Hi, I just set up my Dad's brand new computer we bought from Lenovo and I referred him to Dropbox. Followed all the steps and it says he is ineligible. This is a new computer (not refurbished etc) that has not have dropbox installed before and he has never had a dropbox account before. What went wrong?73Views0likes8CommentsI'm getting storage space warnings, and can't view shared files, even though I have space.
I’m hoping someone from Dropbox Support or the community can help clarify this. Legacy Dropbox account with 5.75 GB of storage. I earned the additional space years ago through referral bonuses for getting others to sign up. Recently, my account appears to be truncated back down to 2 GB, and I’m getting storage-limit warnings and can't view shared files despite having additional capacity. It looks like some new systems weren't designed to support the referral-based bonus space. I’ve attached a screenshot showing the original 5.75 GB allocation. Has anyone else run into this? And Dropbox Support -could you help unlock the full 5.75 GB that should still be associated with my account? Dropbox Plan Basic Device Macbook Air M2 Operating System/Browser (if using the web) MacOS 26.0.1 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) Question or Issue Some time ago Dropbox notified my that my storage was above threshold because another user shared some huge files with me. I quickly deleted those files and several other and now my storage use is now down to 16,64%. However, Dropbox keeps sending me mails insisting that I need to upgrade my plan in spite of my low storage usage. It been a few weeks since I lowered my usage to 16,64% but the out of space-mails keep coming. How do I make this stop? Dropbox Plan Basic Device Windows laptops and PC Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 I'm on Dropbox basic But because I've recommended a number of people to the service, I have a storage capacity of 8.5 gb. I am currently using 2.5 gb. But I am repeatedly getting error messages saying I've exceeded my allowance and my files are no longer syncing. As I'm on Basic, there doesn't seem to be any way for me to contact Support to resolve this issue. Any suggestions?41Views0likes2CommentsI sent a referral to one of my students, but it's once again ineligible.
Sorry to have to raise a similar issue again. As promised, I am continuing to recommend Dropbox to my students and their parents, and now sending the referrals via my Referrals page. Today I recommended Dropbox to one of my students, while he was here with his laptop, so I could see and make sure that everything was done right. He had never installed or used Dropbox before. He clicked on my referral link and successfully installed the App. He tried to verify his account, but received an error message, saying that ''Something went wrong." My Referrals page shows his status as "Ineligible." I would be grateful if you could track down what went wrong this time and let me know? I am happy to forward a capture of the emails and error message... Thank you.235Views0likes18CommentsI've sent referrals to my colleagues, but they've been marked ineligible.
Hi Dropbox Team, I invited two of my colleagues to use Dropbox. Both of them are new users who had never installed Dropbox before. However, it seems that since we are working on the same LAN, the referral status shows as ineligible. This is quite discouraging, as I was hoping to invite more of my colleagues to use Dropbox together for our collaborative work. Could you please let me know if there is any way to change this status or make the referrals eligible? Thank you very much for your time and help. I bought a Mac Mini earlier this year and as most Mac Mini owners, the internal drive is too small. So I added a 1TB SSD to a Acasis case (the mini Mac Pro lookalike-case) and followed all the instructions on how to move the Dropbox folder to the external drive. Since then it's been a nightmare. My Dropbox account has about 1,5 TB in it so I don't sync everything but my music folder has to be synced since I'm a DJ. So I have maybe 750GB on the 1TB drive. But after a week Dropbox stopped working and syncing. And the SSD was full. Very weird. Restarts and re-installation of the Dropbox app didn't help. I had to remove files from the drive and then it started indexing, registering and syncing again. But I had to, again, select which folders not to have 'offline'. It worked for a week or two, then the same problem. Again. Exactly the same. Solved it the same way. Worked for a couple of weeks. It's getting a bit tired. It looks like the only way to solve this would be to get a bigger SSD, at least 2TB.190Views0likes15CommentsFollowed steps but didn't get referral space and cannot verify my email address
I was invited to join dropbox via a referral link, i signed up using the link and installed the desktop app on a new computer. I logged into the desktop app but still didnt receive my 500 mbs bonus and neither did my referral receive his bonus since i joined using his invitation link...as per instructions on the forums it is mentioned to verify the email address but I am unable to send the verification code as there is no option on the general account settings for this step on my desktop app, browser app amd mobile app...moreover, after trying to follow steps provided on the dropbox forum, upon clicking the link for send verification code, the page is redirected to my dropbox with a message "something went wrong" and i am unable to verify55Views0likes2Comments
