I have a charge on my credit card. I need to know the account that this is being charged to. I was forced to open another account to log this message. I tried using the form that is supposed aid in looking up a the transaction dropbox.com/payments/find_receipt and it keeps returning an error on the credit card number and expiration date that I know is correct.57Views0likes6CommentsCannot open a shared folder despite having plenty of space available
I currently have the basic plan. I invited someone to join so I have 3 GB allotted to me. I am currently only using 1.12 GB. This shows in my profile. A friend sent me an important file today, and I am unable to open it. I get an error that says I am out of space and I need to upgrade for $11.99 a month. I saw another post that referred to checking backups and I did verify that I have nothing backed up. I was at 1.3 GB, so I deleted a few photos that were saved. And now I’m down to 1.12 GB. Why am I not able to open this new file? There should be no problem as these are our family Christmas photos. The same person takes them every year, the file size should be about the same as the last five years that are already saved in dropbox. So this file should be nowhere near large enough to use up the remaining amount of storage. I need to access these files so that I can get photos printed for Christmas for family that we’re going to visit. Time is of the essence. Can you please help me??25Views0likes1CommentError 500 finishing huge file upload (300GiB+)
Hello, When a huge file (300GiB+) is uploaded using the upload_session API an "Error 500 Internal Server Error" is received when the last part is uploaded (/upload_session/append with close set). I retry the request but an Error 500 raises again and again. Sometimes, after more than 1 hour retrying the file uploads successfully. I am using session_type sequential. The same code for smaller files (10GiB) works perfectly. Are you aware of the problem? Is there any workaround?1.1KViews0likes8CommentsThe Dropbox app throws a startup error on MacOS 13.7.1.
After about 15 years using Dropbox on my iMac (now with OS Ventura 13.7.1), for the first time it is giving me an error message right after it starts up. It immediately closes after an error. Tried rebooting the iMac multiple times already, and did a reinstall downloading the lastest version from Dropbox website, nothing worked. Important information: nothing changed on my MacOS install in the last few days to provoke this kind of behavior from Dropbox app. Nothing changed on my personal home network, neither on my firewall and no new routers/modem, no new network settings to create this problem. Didnt install any new app on my iMac lately that could have affected Dropbox install. I would greatly appreciate if someone could PLEASE help me solve this. Im really lost, cause Dropbox has been working perfectly for me on both my Windows and Mac machines for over 10 years now!! Heres the error message: This pops up one or two seconds after the Dropbox icon appears on the top bar. After the error message appears, Dropbox freezes and I cant even access the settings option to try some solution. The app closes right after i click on "OK". Here´s the transcription of the error log file the above message box gives me: Any HELP, please???53Views0likes4CommentsI'm getting an "Attempted to zip too many files" error when trying to restore a backup.
Device (Dell XPS 15, iPhone 13, etc.) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) (Windows 11, macOS14.3, etc.) Dropbox App Version/Browser Version (Chrome 124, Safari 17 etc.) Question or Issue While trying to restore, or in Dropbox's parlance, "Download" an existing backup of a laptop being replaced by a new laptop, I received the error message shown in the title. No further explanation given. I searched for the error in the Help Files and found... NOTHING! I searched here in the Community and found a thread right away from two years ago that described receiving the same error message. One reply was marked as a solution, and although it may have helped with the OP, pointing him to a Help File article on backups, it did not help me decipher the error message or how to work around it. In fact, the article stated that after signing in to Dropbox on the new computer and downloading and installing the app, that I should have been prompted to automatically restore the backup from the original laptop. That did not happen. I can't even imaging how it could happen since the software wouldn't know which device that had been backed up the new device was replacing. This was very discouraging to me in that not only finding out other people had experienced the same issue, but it wasn't acknowledged in Dropbox's Help Files, and replies had been turned off in the thread, despite the lack of a real solution. My fear is that, despite its hefty fees for services, Dropbox backup and restore may not be really ready for prime time. It's pretty obvious that restoring to a downloaded zip file is not a true restore and involves a lot of extra work by the user, even assuming the backed up data is intact. My guess is that Dropbox doesn't have a true restore function, and that also, it has a limitation on the number of files that can even be downloaded in a zip file. Anyone else experienced this error message and actually found a solution?78Views0likes5CommentsmacOS Sequoia 15.5 - Getting a message that "The application couldn't be found", after an update.
I've been a Dropbox user for many years. Within the last few months, whenever Dropbox automatically updates on my Mac currently running macOS 15.5 I've noted that in Finder I will see a message above files in my Dropbox folder of "The application "Dropbox" could not be found." and nothing will sync, even though Dropbox is running. Rebooting my Mac seems to resolve the issue as everything works properly after a reboot and the message is gone in Finder. This seems like a recent bug as Dropbox didn't do this for many years on my Macs. I'm not sure how to prevent the issue from happening the next time an update rolls out, or what to do to "fix" this as an end user other than a reboot. It's not the end of the world, but it's a regression and is a bit annoying.1.6KViews0likes58CommentsMoving the Dropbox folder on Linux Mint 22.2 using the Dropbox desktop app won't work
I've gone over to Linux Mint 22.2, have dropbox installed. I want to move it to my data drive...no problem. I made the move using the dropbox app, pointing it to my data drive. It did the sync fine, moved the files over, and all is good. Restart. Upon restart, I get this error message, and can't do anything about it. If I do a relink, it automatically installs the dropbox back on my OS drive and ignores everything it had just done prior the restart. How do I fix this without reinstalling it on my OS drive? Thank you.137Views0likes11CommentsDropbox tells me that I'm over-quota, but I only see 2.4GB of files.
Dropbox Plan Basic Device PC Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 238.4.6075 Question or Issue As a basic user I see that I am entitled to 3 GB of storage space. Dropbox tells me that I use 3.03GB of 3GB. However, I can see that my dropbox folder has 2,4GB. I have checked the cache as well and it is empty. Is there a bug or something that I miss? Thanks in advance!Solved48Views0likes4CommentsStartup error on the Dropbox desktop app
I've been using Dropbox successfully for 10+ years. Last week I started getting an error message - see below. I double checked to see if documents created on my computer are syncing to Dropbox online and my phone. They are not. I have reviewed the help desk article and added dropbox.exe to my ESET virus protection software, but it didn't help. What to do? I'm nervous that my computer will crash adn I'll lose all recent documents as they won't be backed up in the cloud. There are a few red x's in File Explorer on some Dropbox files, but only a few. Lots of files have revolving arrows as if they are trying to sync.136Views0likes11CommentsDropbox mails says I'm out of space, but I'm using only 17%.
Dropbox Plan Basic Device Macbook Air M2 Operating System/Browser (if using the web) MacOS 26.0.1 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) Question or Issue Some time ago Dropbox notified my that my storage was above threshold because another user shared some huge files with me. I quickly deleted those files and several other and now my storage use is now down to 16,64%. However, Dropbox keeps sending me mails insisting that I need to upgrade my plan in spite of my low storage usage. It been a few weeks since I lowered my usage to 16,64% but the out of space-mails keep coming. How do I make this stop?
