File access
41 TopicsI'd like a feature that allows me to secure a folder of files with a password for extra protection.
It would be a great idea to implement an extra layer of protection to be able to hide certain files or be able to lock them with a set password within the app since I experience multiple users on multiple machines of mine being able to access most of the files. Therefor I would really benefit from a folder I can lock with my personal password and therefor hide sensitive information or files that should not be accessed by other users but me. I would suggest calling it something like Vault or Hidden Files. This could also be done via integration through the apps, let people decide if they want to install the vault feature or not.290Views2likes8CommentsGot an email about a failed attempt to renew but my account shows as Basic and is empty
I had a paid account for many years. My credit card expired and I received an email saying: We weren't able to charge you $11.99 for your Dropbox subscription. Please check your billing information to make sure it's up to date. After April 29, 2024, your account will be downgraded to Dropbox Basic, and your space will be reduced to its original amount. If this happens, none of your files will be deleted, but you'll have much less space to add new files to Dropbox. I have tried to log in to update my card but when I log in, there is nothing in my account, no history, no files, zero. I do not know what to do. Now it says I do not qualify for support because I have a free account. Totally confused.Solved6.5KViews1like26CommentsUnknown error, please contact support
No idea where to post this. I guess all my dropbox stuff is gone? There's no way to contact support, but any time I try to log in, that's the error I get. "Unknown error, please contact support". That with: - sign in with email and password - sign in with Google - sign in by clicking the link they send to my email Any help?Solved1.7KViews1like1CommentCan you restrict selective sync by device, instead of by user?
Long story short, I need the user of an iMac in our office to have full dropbox access. I need that same user to have access to only certain folders on an iPad. On both the iMac and iPad, the user account is the same. If I selectively sync certain folders to the iPad, any iPad user can simply click the dropbox app, selectively sync all folders, and then have full access to the entire dropbox folder. This is obviously not acceptable from a security standpoint. Is there a way to restrict which folders sync based on which device dropbox is used on, rather than by which account is logged in? I'm really surprised I can't find a solution. This is a security dealbreaker for us and will cause us to move to a different file sharing app if syncing can't be restricted by device.Solved2KViews1like4Comments
