A user has a DropBox shared folder that is used by everyone within an organization. When we try to access, for example, an Excel file from the shared folder in File Explorer, it tries to open in the Excel app but it freezes, never loads, and gives message (Excel is not responding) in which case, we use task manager to force quit Excel. Even during times that it may open (very rarely), it gives us the following error: Error 1: Microsoft Excel cannot access the file '.....'. There are several possible reasons: The file name or path does not exist, The file is being used by another program, The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a currently open workbook. So far, I have tried: -Uninstall / re-install DropBox app. -Sync status shows as 'All files are up to date' -Restart laptop. -Clear DropBox cache -Turn on Selective Sync -(The files are able to be opened from DropBox Online & if we download the individual files before opening.) We've opened a ticket with DropBox Support for the past month (about 3 tickets opened) but nobody is following up with us regarding this. Any help would be appreciated! -Solved402Views1like9CommentsLost my updates on an Excel file after 'Resource Deadlock' warning
I was working on a file on Excel, I thought I had saved but possibly not. The file was live in my window. Excel did not crash, but when I went back to Excel - it had disappeared and when I tried opening it I got a Resource Deadlock Warning. I wasn't connected to the internet at the time. I probably should have checked my old files then but it didn't occur to me. When I was next on the internet I opened the file and it was a file from over 3 weeks ago. I have since searched everywhere on version history/events and my hard disk temporary files for the old file but only the version from September has come up. I feel probably no way of recovering but thought worth checking what went wrong and if anyone else has had this problem. Not sure if it is a dropbox or excel issue or a combination of the two.260Views0likes2CommentsSelecting a Paper task in sidebar doesn't take me to the actual "to do" in large docs; page reloads.
Device - Macbook pro Apple M1 Max - 32GB Operating System/Browser (if using the web) - MacOS 15.6.1 (24G90) Dropbox App Version/Browser Version - Version 139.0.7258.139 (Official Build) (arm64) Question or Issue One of the most awesome features of Dropbox Paper, besides it's elegant, minimal display options , and smooth copy-paste with Apple Mail, is the task sidebar.I have looked for a replacement as Drop[box paper has aged, and nothing comes close. Unfortunately, the sidebar has stopped working the way it was designed. When I click on a todo in the task sidebar, it always forces a reload of the page (it did not used to, if I clicked on a task that was within this document.) AND, if the document is large, it does not scroll to a todo in a large document. This renders the Task sidebar almost useless as a navigation tool. Now I have to search text to match the todo, where the Task sidebar navigation used to be seamless. Attached is a document that exhibits the "full page reload" issue. And a screen recording of a larger file, where the todo list does not scroll. PLEASE fix this! This is CRUCIAL to our workflow with our many many clients. We do NOT want to migrate off Dropbox Paper! First, the document link: link removed by moderator Next the recording, please listen to the voiceover. link removed by moderator PLEASE HELP! Hi, everyone. I think I'm having sync problems with my Dropbox, but I can't figure out what the issue could be. I store my files in a vault in Cryptomator, but whenever one or more new files are being added, the only way I can see them is redownloading the whole project folder from Dropbox and reinstalling the vault in Cryptomator. Could this be a sync problem? My OS is Windows 11. I hope some of you can help me with this issue. Thanks.200Views0likes6CommentsData loss: Boxcryptor classic files no longer readable
Integration Affected Boxcryptor classic 1.7.1 Device irrelevant Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 237.4.5655 Question or Issue Dropbox decided to update to windows files recently. This Update without warning did a) block my PC for at least a day b) ended up corrupting my encrypted files which I no longer can read. Please advise how to restore my files. This is likely the same issue as here, Dropbox's latest update leads to no access to Boxcryptor files. Can't copy or open them. | The Dropbox Community but the solution described there is to rely on old undynched folders which I do not have. Also, the topic is closed and does not let me continue. Text files end up with error message "cannot open .." Pdf will lead to "No file Permission ..." Excel: etc..102Views0likes10CommentsIntegrate Dropbox with a message app, so that we can upload files from our Dropbox account directly.
I would love to have a feature to add Dropbox in meaaage app. Instead of copying and paste from Dropbox to message , I would like to tap the plus button and scroll down to Dropbox, tap it and find a pic. It would directly send pic to message. One drive and pCloud have that feature. What do you think ? ce100Views0likes3CommentsCan I change per-file permissions when using SSH certificates?
Until now, I've been syncing my SSH certificates in Dropbox. However, since a couple months ago, everytime I open the app I see this message: If I click "Give permission", this will grant read access to my certificate files, and the next time I try connecting to SSH using that certificate I will get an error and will have to manually remove the permission. If I click Cancel, I will get again this same message the next time I open Dropbox. My feature idea is having a more specific message that let users know which files have permission issues, with a way to just reject the permission changes and adjust the selective sync accordingly. The current way is a bit too uninformative and probably breaks systems for many others.84Views0likes1Comment
