File access
12 TopicsMy phone was stolen and my Dropbox files are missing but it says that my account is almost full
My Dropbox says that I'm almost at capacity on my basic plan but I cannot see any documents files or photos. My iPhone 14 plus was stolen and pictures of my ID and social security card were in there as well as some intimate photos. I'm going to assume they moved or shared the files because I don't see them anywhere in the list I see nothing at all. But I do see that it says I'm almost at capacity. How is this? How do I get my files? I chose to retrieve files within the last 30 days but it didn't show anything. I can't contact the live person. I really need stuff that's in there. What do I do?16Views0likes2CommentsHow can I remove files from my account to free up space and save them to an external drive?
Dear smart people, I want to free up space in Dropbox by deleting files there. Can someone explain how to put the contents (mostly word documents and some photos) of my current Dropbox onto an external hard drive in case I need something in the future? Step by step instructions I mean. I don't know how to do it, but am also concerned that the copied files could disappear from the external hard drive when I then delete them from my Dropbox account. Is that possible? I use Dropbox from a laptop computer. I looked at past discussion posts but they're all too complicated. Thank you SO much for your help!34Views0likes1CommentSecondary email says I'm out of space but I'm not.
I have a dropbox account with a secondary email which has worked fine for probably 10 years or more. Suddenly when i try to log in with it it says I'm out of space and only shows that i have a 3GB account, when i actually have a 2T account. I can login with my primary email just fine, but the secondary gives me the out-of-space message. Like I said, i've been using the secondary account to login for many years, what happened? I rarely use the primary email anymore, and I don't want my clients to be adding my primary email to their contact list. I want them to see my business email.15Views0likes1CommentI'm over my storage limit but can't access my files to delete them
I have exceeded the storage limit for quite a while, but both the website and app will not allow me to access the files to delete them. How do I get to the files so I can delete and stop the emails trying to get me to upgrade? Thanks44Views0likes1CommentCreate a "Folder Owner" Option for Shared Folders to Designate Who Takes on Storage Space Burden
Forcing users of shared folders to have enough storage space to make their uploads appears to be a bad design choice, which just so happens to encourage subscription upgrades. Having to send separate links for a File Request and a View-Only Folder is needlessly convoluted. Please create an option for the owner of a shared folder to exclusively take on the burden of file space. I should not have to send my clients two separate links just for them to upload a file and then view the folder they uploaded to (without them getting warnings about their own storage allotment or their uploads denied). This inconvenience is so great that I am considering migrating to a different cloud storage platform.15Views0likes1CommentWhere did my dropbox files and folders go?
Hi. I have received a couple of emails from Dropbox saying my storage is all used up. That's fine - I can delete some files and folders and tidy it all up a bit. However, has Dropbox recently changed their storage options? I used to save loads of information to Dropbox and now it seems I can barely save a thing. I have the basic plan and haven't changed my plan. I am having trouble finding my files and folders. I can see two recent folders (which were a back up of my website), but nothing more. I've checked the deleted folder just in case Dropbox have deleted some of my files and folders, but that is empty too. Any suggestions please?465Views0likes1Comment
