200 Topics"Sync issues" window in the Dropbox desktop app isn't working on Windows 10
I am using Dropbox for years and not usually ever needing to ask for help. It just works. However, I have a major issue now on my main Windows 10 desktop PC. Using Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit, ver. 22H2, with all updates installed. Dropbox app is version 224.4.4811. One of my files cannot sync. When I click See issues button a small window shows saying Dropbox in the caption, then Sync issues text label shows under that, on the left. Then a Was this helpful? section is on the right, with thumbs up and thumbs down buttons. And the rest of the window is totally empty/gray! So, no file list, nothing, no folders or any text. I can add a screenshot if needed. Please advise why this is happening? Do you plan to fix this? How can I identify which of my files cannot sync to/from the Dropbox Cloud? My PC specs -- desktop PC with Intel Core i3 Haswell CPU, 16 GB of DDR3 RAM, big Samsung SATA3 SSD with plenty of free space + several HDDs (all of them with lots of space free.) My GPU & its drivers are old, but this should not cause Dropbox not to work. GPU is AMD Radeon R9 390, 8 GB of videoRAM, latest April 2022 drivers. What I tried so far -- Pause Dropbox sync, then resume. Did not help any. Quit Dropbox app, run again - also did not help!?54Views0likes1CommentAny way to allow the iPad's screen to shut off when a file is displayed in the Dropbox app?
Hi, I just came home from work to discover my ipad screen still on, 9 hours after I left it. I realised that when the dropbox app is open, and a document is being displayed (full screen or not), the screen timeout (to save battery life) does not function. On my android phone the screen shuts off as per system power saving settings as expected. Is there a way to allow the ipad screen to shut off to save battery when dropbox is displaying a pdf or someother document? I can't imagine anyone would want it to stay on permanently. Thanks Jon68Views0likes5CommentsWhere's the Linux preferences GUI? The CLI doesn't work.
The title says it all. While setting up a fresh laptop with EndeavourOS, I was able to load the UI from an older installation for a moment until it closed itself. This usually happens when the app is running a self update, and given this was a 2 week old backup, this makes sense. Upon loading it up, the Preferences option now loads up a window with the following: Why? Why was the old preferences UI removed in favor of this? This isn't an upgrade in the slightest, and clicking More Settings simply takes me to the CLI instructions page. While this is okay for me, it isn't okay for my family who is making the switch over and are not terminal warriors. Well, that would be the case if the terminal command even worked right: So, I really do have to ask: what is going on here and how can I have my older, at least functional, GUI back?439Views2likes16CommentsFile name is cut off on the Dropbox site
How is it possible for an app this old to still not allow a user to alter the field length? 20 odd characters is grossly insufficient for anyone with real organisation habits. Why can I not simply see longer file names? Why? What is the justification for this? Take myself, a 3d modeller. I constantly have files that are categorised by project/object/component (often with more additions like side or versions). It's maddening. We're nor working in 1024 resolutions anymore, we've all got second or third monitors. Screen real estate has never been higher. So why are we stuck with this archaic restriction? Every website I go to can adapt to window size but Dropbox is acting like it's still 2007. If this isn't fixed we're going to stop paying for it.83Views0likes11CommentsHow to expand left sidebar width on the website?
How can I expand the left sidebar width. I have many levels of files and I can not see the names of folders that I want to move files into. As you can see below, all I can see is the first letter of the folder "A" and there are several of them. I want to be able to expand the left sidebar so I can see the names of those folders and not just the first letter. I was able to do it before, but not now for some reason. Thanks!1.9KViews7likes13CommentsCan I remove the "your activity" files?
It seem impossible to imagine but apparently Dropbox has decided that recent activity/files in recent activity are now permanently viewable until replaced by more recent activity. Really? I hope I'm wrong. Dropbox started out as uniquely user friendly and easy to use. I've watched that disappear over the years. It's becoming every bit the arrogant, controlling, short sighted and customer unfriendly type of site that it once stood out from. Again, if anyone has different information, please share. I'm truly hoping I'm wrong.424Views2likes7Comments
