Hello The Finder Extension Icons indicating whether a file or folder is Online Only or Available Offline are showing up in my Finder, however, the statuses are incorrect. For instance a folder that contains files that are both Online Only files and Available Offline files is showing a cloud icon, when it should be showing a white circle with a green checkmark and green outline. I think the Finder Extension is confused. Is there a way to reset the Finder Extension so the icons show correctly without changing the Online Only or Available Offline settings that I have for my files/folders? I do not want to change the statuses of my files/folders, I just want the icons to indicate the statuses correctly. Thank you. I am assuming work is being done in the background, but as of a few days ago, I no longer have green circles for downloaded (available offline) files. Everything has a cloud symbol (that symbol doesn't even exist in the online documentation) but seems to be available offline. I am also getting lots of sync errors - but my files appear to be still on my computer (where I need them). And yesterday the DROPBOX icon disappeared from my sidebar (Locations). Only to show up again hours later. Strange. What is going on? These sync irregularities seem to be quite substantial. Syncing files is what Dropbox is all about. I am a little surprised this beta version was even released to the public. When I joined the beta, the email I got from dropbox made it sound like the final release was imminent.Solved25KViews4likes15CommentsNo Option to "Make Available Offline."
Honestly, this seemingly late "bringing to the forefront" (I guess you'd call it) of the whole "Online Only" vs. "Make Available Offline" thing has been more of a headache than a help, if I may offer my opinion. I purchased a new ultra-portable Windows computer which has a 256GB SSD on board, but I plan on using my Dropbox files with it, and I have well over 256GB worth of stuff in my Dropbox. The thing is that I'm often in situations in which I need offline access to my files. So I purchased a 1 TB microSD card, which will never leave its slot in this machine. Heck, I can't even retrieve it, it seems. I mounted it so that it isn't considered "Removable Media" by the computer, and then I proceeded to install Dropbox on the computer, with the intent of using the 1 TB card exclusively for Dropbox content...offline. I left my machine to sync overnight, and what do you know? Everything has a stupid cloud next to it. I have no option to "Make Available Offline," either in the file/folder context menu or in the Dropbox application > Preferences > Sync menu. If this is by design, it's a pitifully stupid design. I'm going to whatever lengths I can to make this work the way I envision, but I'm going to be awfully disappointed if Dropbox doesn't respect use cases that might not necessarily conform to a narrow definition. If it's an issue with a recent update to the application, then please bug the developers posthaste.Solved24KViews1like125CommentsThere are no green checkmarks on any files in my dropbox folder.
This is a Windows 10 machine. I have tried quitting and restarting the dropbox app. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I am viewing the correct folder -- I clicked the folder icon on the dropbox app. My other machine, a laptop with Win 11 on it shows the green checkmarks properly. It would be nice to have these checkmarks so I can see at a glance if a file is synced or not, rather than opening the app and hunting through the sync history.Solved17KViews3likes11CommentsGreen tick with white backround
I've been a user and paid subscriber to Dropbox for about a decade. I use Drobox for sharing my files across multiple devices and occasionally for sharing files with other people who don't always have Dropbox accounts. I don't work as part of an organisation so I don't use any of the team or business related features. I often recommend people use Dropbox over other cloud storage as I've always been impressed with Dropbox. I've just started seeing the normal green background tick replaced with a white background tick on multiple files and folders. According to the help pages these white background ticks can only appear on folders yet I have them on multiple files. The help page says this green tick with a white background and green circle 'Contains files that are both available offline and online-only. A white circle with a green outline and a green checkmark can only appear on a folder. It means the folder contains a mix of files and folders that are âavailable offlineâ and âonline-onlyâ.' Looking at the files it looks like some of these are files I've previously shared with other people but that doesnât match the description here. My recolection is the shared folders had a different icon but that seems to have changed. What would be nice would be for a company to be consistent with their icons rather that occasionally going for a total redesign just because someone has said it's fashionable to have a new look. If you have to have a new look please, at least, keep the basic symbolism consistent with the past for the sake of your long term loyal customers. When you do release an update please also release an update of the help files as the statement that 'A white circle with a green outline and a green checkmark can only appear on a folder' is not true as I have it all over my files.11KViews2likes6CommentsDuplicate Dropbox Options in Context (Right Click) Menu - Windows 11
Title pretty much sums it up. When I right click a file in dropbox or Winblows explorer tree, there are 2 sets of Dropbox options. With other installed apps and options I've enabled, right click menu is quite long, (full menu no shown below). How do I consolidate these 2 Dropbox option trees into 1? It would be nice if there was a board for technical issues, but there's not so i had to just choose "plans and subscriptions". I can't believe that I have to waste my time with the community! How do I get in touch with technical support????? I can't login using windows 10. When I get tot he point of entering the code that was sent to my email and hit the continue button it does not work. I repeat, the continue button itself does not work (dead link). I could not even login to ask the community, I had to login using windows 7. I've made a videos of the problem, but of course, there is no way to actually reach the technical support team, this is just ridiculous. And before anyone asks, YES, I've already tried clearing my cache.9.1KViews0likes18CommentsIs it possible to disable the sync icons on files in Explorer?
How can I disable the overlay icons, that are showing the current sync status of dropbox in the explorer? I need them for other applications that I am using. Windows 10 can obvioulsy only handle 15 icons, but the most of them are used by dropbox per default. The only solution I found is to delete the registry entrys of dropbox in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers, but they were obvioulsy installed again automatically. This is getting really annoying :triumph:. Is there a possibility to disable these icons anywhere in the dropbox settings? I did not found an option for it. The only icon that would be helpful is the green "sync OK" icon, the rest of it is not relevant for me. Can I maybe modify some kind of *.ini file e.g. of dropbox to get rid of the useless icons?Solved8.4KViews3likes13CommentsSync icons no longer appear in Finder after upgrading
