I reinstalled the Dropbox app and now I'm being asked to rename the old folder and create a new one.
I just downloaded dropbox from their site. It is installing. It has reached the point of creating the dropbox folder -- if this was a new install. However, this is a reinstall. "Couldn't rename Dropbox to make room for your Dropbox folder. Dropbox needs to rename your existing folder or file named Dropbox to finish installing. Please close any open documents and try again." I have no files open that I can see. Should I reboot?
How to check what has been synced when using the app and how to access its preferences?
I started a free trial on 18.3.25. I am completely lost! I seem to have a Business Plan, but I don't want that. I just wanted to transfer some folders/files onto a new laptop. Dropbox seems to have transferred the videos/music from my USB, onto Dropbox, without asking and automatically synced 'something'. I don't know what. (although thankfully, it did seem to movedmy photos onto the new laptop) I don't know what has been synced? 2. I made some adjustments to preferences, but I cannot find 'preferences' again, to check if noted. Where do I find Preferences? 3. I have deleted the taskbar icon by mistake and so cannot access my account. 4. I am worried sick that if I do not continue with Dropbox, that I will lose all my files/folders in Documents,Music, Videos and possibly Pictures? Is that so?How can I safely backup my music files from my old laptop to a new device?
Hello, Hoping someone can explain something. I have a laptop that I'm going to replace this year and have roughly 315GB of MP3 music that I'd like to back up. If I were to put Dropbox on my current laptop and backup all my music, what would happen when I got a new laptop and downloaded Dropbox? What I'd like to do would be to then download the saved music files to my new laptop and then have Dropbox back up anything new I add What I'm concerned about is Dropbox syncing to my new laptop - seeing there's no music - and deleting my saved files or I manage to download my saved files onto my new computer but then the desktop app backs up/ syncs my new laptop again and I have two copies of all the files. I may be overthinking this but just want it to go smoothly as these files are important to me. Any help appreciated. Thanks
"Make Online Only" not working with new Surface Laptop 7
I recently got the Microsoft Surface Laptop 7th Edition, and I'm facing issues with enabling the "Make Online Only" and "Make Available Offline" options in Dropbox. Likewise, in the Dropbox Preferences console under the Sync section, I can't find the "Save hard drive space automatically" or "Default sync state for new files" options. I've tried uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling Dropbox as an administrator multiple times, even disabling the antivirus and firewall as some have suggested, but the problem persists. Any advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated!
Dropbox has stopped working and syncing across Windows devices.
I have had continual issues recently with Dropbox, after years of smooth operations. I use a Windows 11 system on a PC and on a Surface 9 Pro. Files no longer are saved nor do they sync between devices. Previously, uninstalling Dropbox and reinstalling has helped, but now, according to both devices, Dropbox is not installed, but if I go to Dropbox.com all but my most recent files are still there, and I don't get a prompt to let me download and reinstall dropbox. I'm at a loss as to what will happen if I create new files. All are word files in docx format. Can you help?
