Device Macbook Air M2, 2022 Operating System/Browser (if using the web) (macOS Tahoe Version 26.3) Dropbox App Version (243.3.6860) Question or Issue If anyone can hop on a video call and help me download large 'camera uploads' folder (96GB), 26K mostly images/some videos to external usb stick I'll happily transfer $20! First formatted external hard drive to exFAT but tediously slow having to download files as zip in download folder only and then copy to external hard drive. Tried to set up as APFS with no luck. Getting all sorts of error messages every different workaround I try. If anyone could walk me through it via video call I would really appreciate it. Other folders are no issue to copy/transfer.30Views0likes4CommentsI can't see my files on my Mac at home, they don't seem to sync.

Device (Mac M1) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) macOS15.7 Dropbox Browser Version in chrome Question or Issue I have a large video file (about 2 hours, 39 Gb). On the Dropbox platform, I can watch the full video without any issues. However, after downloading it to my Mac, it seems the download does not complete 100% (only about 90–95%), even though macOS shows the download as successful and complete. When I play the file in QuickTime Player, the last part freezes. The first time I downloaded it, the last 15 minutes froze; on the second attempt, it was only the last 8 minutes. Is there another way to download the file, such as a compressed ZIP or multipart archive, or to crop the video so I can download just the final 8 minutes? Hello, I'm a long time Dropbox user, I've run into an issue with my Dropbox desktop application "Syncing 20 files" constantly for the past few weeks, though I've seemingly not changed anything about how I use the app. This is a problem that's already been well documented in the forums for various reasons, so I'll list all of the things I've tried using other forum posts: MacOS 12.4 (Apple M1) Dropbox v152.4.4880 - Reinstalling the app - Checking dropbox.com settings, like "Early releases" is off "Dropbox system extension" is on "Online-only files on Mac" is on - Checking application settings, like "Enable LAN sync" is off Bandwidth View sync issues (empty) - Using the advanced functions in the application settings, like "Fix permissions" "Fix hardlinks" - Check MacOS Activity Monitor - Searching Finder for the files that have the blue syncing status icon - Looking for any file names that have unsupported characters in them There are about 31k files in the main folder, and no individual file is larger than 1 or 2gb, so nothing out of the ordinary there. I saw a few posts about file name or file depth / path length, but I would have no idea where to start with diagnosing that, especially because as far as I've seen, all files are synced properly. When opening up the Dropbox folder, I've Alt-Click to expand and view all files and folders in the drive. I've then slowly scrolled through to view the status of each file and folder (you have to sometimes wait for Dropbox to update that many green checks / blue sync icons). Doing it this way, I couldn't find any file that wasn't either a Green Checkmark or a White Checkmark/Grey Cloud. The only folder that shows a blue sync icon is at the very top level: All other files and folders look something like this: While running, the app isn't taking up a relevant amount of CPU doing this, and it continues to sync new and changed files properly... so that's good. This wouldn't even be such an issue except that if I check network activity in the MacOS Activity Monitor, I can see that sometimes (but not always) it's constantly uploading or downloading packets of data, larger than just a few bytes (like 0.5mb every few seconds). Also worth noting that it will never change to below 20, but for example if I add 1 new file, it will briefly say 21, before that new file then syncs and it returns to being stuck at 20. It may also be worth noting that when first starting the app, it will give a short time estimation to sync the 20 files, which will slowly increase for a few seconds, until it hits 30 or 40s, and then that estimation text will disappear entirely: Does anybody have any additional suggestions on this? My workaround right now is to select "Pause file sync... Until tomorrow" every morning when I log into my computer. Is there a way for the support or dev team to do some sort of hard reset on all my files' sync status or something? Any help would be appreciated, thank you!! FosterSolved25KViews2likes14Comments"There's already a folder or file named Dropbox" upon installing the Dropbox desktop app
I've had Dropbox installed for several years on a Mac but had not used it for a few years. When I tried launching it, nothing happened, so I downloaded a new copy and installed it. With the installation came a pop-up message "there's already a folder or file named dropbox," at which point I either had to rename the existing Dropbox folder or choose another new one. That would mean copying several GB of files (needlessly) from a cloud server to an empty folder, with the previous folder no longer synced. I have a very slow cellular-phone based service (all that's available where I live - no fiber optics coming to our neighborhood), and it's metered. This 'feature' essentially makes Dropbox unusable for local storage. There have been other postings of this problem over at least 5 years, with no solution from Dropbox. A proposed solution is to rename the old Dropbox, let the process start syncing to a new one, stop the process, move the old to the new, and restart Dropbox. As far as I can tell, this just delayed the inevitable process of copying several GB of files. I cannot afford this. Yes, I can always access files on the web, but that makes Dropbox more primitive than most other cloud servers that have native Mac, Windows, and even Linux clients.4.7KViews2likes3CommentsCloud icon with arrow on some folders/files on my Mac. How can I download my content locally?
I am working with dropbox for over 8 years but since last few weeks some sci-fi things are blocking my workflow with dropbox. I saw cloud icon w/arrow pointing down next to some (random) folders & files. those files are not available when I switch off wifi. I can't find any option in the settings to switch off that. I still have lots of free storage space. I need to have everything offline on every device. I think it came with the last update. It's reall a mess. How do I turn it off?Solved17KViews3likes29CommentsRequest: All files available offline by default
Moving the Mac to the new File Provider is great - very happy this is finally happening and support on the new M1 is much better. Kudos! Feature request: Really miss the feature to have Dropbox default to making all files downloaded and available for offline open/save. I will always, 100% of the time, want Dropbox to keep all my selected-to-sync files to also be downloaded and available for offline use. I know you can right-click to request offline availability, but this creates a bit of an unclear situation as you can't see by looking at a file in Finder whether it is supposed to be offline available or not. I want this to just be the way Dropbox works. Since there is the option to do this on a per file / folder basis using right-click, seems likely possible for Dropbox to make this effectively on-by-default for every file, with the user doing the gesture.Solved31KViews20likes90CommentsI can see my files when I visit my account online, but not when I open my Dropbox folder in Finder.
I have been using Dropbox for many years now. Recently, some files are now showing up on Mac's Finder (I am using a Macbook Air M2 with Sonoma 14.2.1). Latest Dropbox desktop app version. Files are displayed normally on Dropbox website and also on my iPhone. On Mac they do not show up, but if I do a search on Mac, they appear, but then, if I choose "Show File on Enclosing Folder" on Mac, it shows up, but it is greyed out. If I try to rename it it says I can't because the file is hidden. I have already restarted the Dropbox app and the Mac. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Dropbox app - same results after the reinstall. I am only still using Dropbbox on Mac due to being used to it, as I have plenty of space on my iCloud Drive - but if I cannot get it to work properly, this may be my final goodbye to Dropbox. It will be a pain in the butt to move all files but I am starting to be tired of trying to get this sorted.Solved11KViews3likes13Comments
