Dropbox Plan Business Standard Device MacBook Pro 14" Nov 2024 Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Mac OS Tahoe 26.0.1 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 238.4.6075 Question or Issue I bought this Macbook in August 2025. I spec'ed it with 8TB SSD because I travel a lot and often don't have reliable internet access. System Storage looks like this: Note two things: 1) Mac Documents are 3.33TB 2) System Data is 3.96TB But now look at the screen print belowFinder shows a) Dropbox Personal of 911GB, OtRExp Dropbox [company] of 1,590GB, and Movies 832 GB = total of approx 3.33TB which is exactly what's shown in System Storage/Mac Documents = 3.33TB. Also note that System is a 23.78GB, a bit high, but nothing unusual. So far so good. b) But then, back to the first screen print above, on top of that, the System Storage/System Data figure is 3.96TB as shown above. The result being that out of the 8TB my Mac has 7.81TB are used up. There is, it seems, some double counting going on in the Mac OS. I've spent countless hours with Apple so-called "senior" advisors with no resolution at all except for to tell me "Reinstall Dropbox". Sure, I can do this, but a clean re-install means several days of syncing all my Dropbox (Personal and company) data back to my laptop. More than happy to do this if someone here can tell me: yep, that's going solve your problem. Very grateful to anyone who can shed led on how to solve this problem. At the moment, I feel like having wasted a huge amount of money on SSD of which 1/2 is "missing". I was running out of room on my MacBook Air (2 TB, Sonoma 14.7.8) and was told to make all Dropbox folders Online only to free up storage. It started indexing and freed up almost 1 TB so I was happy for a few minutes. Then it kept indexing and a few days later I was out of memory again. This has been going on for 6 weeks! ChaptGPT calls this a "rehydration" DropbBox Death loop. Chat said to mark the whole DropBox master folder as Online Only, then stop and restart DropbBox ap. Did not solve the problem. Possible clue: My main computer (MacBook Pro (4 TB, Sonoma 14.6.1) is doing fine except the Finder now shows that there is a 20 GB "Conflicted" copy of my DropBox files. Can anyone help me?51Views0likes2CommentsWill I be able to use more than 600 GB of storage?
macOS Tahoe 26.0.1 Question:— My account has 2.01 TB of storage - can I expect to be able to use more than 600 GB of storage? Two years ago I ran into a problem when trying to store more than 600 GB and was advised by a member of the Dropbox Help Team to keep within that limit for an optimum performance. I am now planning to transfer my current Dropbox folder containing less than 600 GB to a new Seagate Ultra Touch HDD. and run Dropbox from there on my new iMac. As my account has 2.01 TB of storage is there any reason why I should not be able to exceed the 600 GB limit I have been adhering to? I want to be able to get the full benefit of my 2.01 TB account but am concerned that if I try I will encounter the same problem I had two years ago - i.e. Dropbox updating interminably. Please advise, Norman Fellows44Views0likes1CommentHaving trouble deleting my content. The option isn't there.
Dropbox Plan Basic Device iMac Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Ventura 13.7.8 Question or Issue An email from DropBox invited me to save my computer's files to DropBox. When I attempted to do so, I ran out of space and I've since changed my mind. I would like to delete EVERYTHING in my DropBox account but when I follow the help directions, (hover over the files, click the three dots, etc.) I don't get an option to delete. I've tried in both "list" and "grid" format. See print screen. Please provide simple instructions for deleting everything. I do NOT want to upgrade.Solved181Views1like6CommentsI only have 750GB synced on my 1TB external drive, but it keeps getting full.
I bought a Mac Mini earlier this year and as most Mac Mini owners, the internal drive is too small. So I added a 1TB SSD to a Acasis case (the mini Mac Pro lookalike-case) and followed all the instructions on how to move the Dropbox folder to the external drive. Since then it's been a nightmare. My Dropbox account has about 1,5 TB in it so I don't sync everything but my music folder has to be synced since I'm a DJ. So I have maybe 750GB on the 1TB drive. But after a week Dropbox stopped working and syncing. And the SSD was full. Very weird. Restarts and re-installation of the Dropbox app didn't help. I had to remove files from the drive and then it started indexing, registering and syncing again. But I had to, again, select which folders not to have 'offline'. It worked for a week or two, then the same problem. Again. Exactly the same. Solved it the same way. Worked for a couple of weeks. It's getting a bit tired. It looks like the only way to solve this would be to get a bigger SSD, at least 2TB.199Views0likes15CommentsWhy does the Dropbox Backup site show folder size as ">...." instead of the actual size?
Dropbox plus Imac Sequoia 15.4.1 Question or Issue Various folders backed up using the desktop app. Verified that all my files had been properly backed up in my dropbox backup folders. Some of the folders show an actual size but some (most of them actually) show for example >6.47GB. In this very case the folder is 15.32GB on my own drive. I checked and all the files are included in the dropbox folder. I understand that dropbox is telling me that the folder is greater than 6.47GB but this is very odd number to show instead of 15.32GB... Another issue is that when I double checked the size of single files there is always a slight discrepancy between what my own drive says and what dropbox says. For example: 39.MB on my drive and 37.7 MB on dropbox backup. Why? And on last thing while I am at it, why is a total size of a folder is not showing up on dropbox backup when that folder contains subfolder?Solved206Views0likes5CommentsFinding all offline folders
hi I did a search although couldn't find this questions being asked. Sorry If I missed it! I'm travelling and want to try and make some free space on my Macbook. Is there a way I can find all the files taking up space from Dropbox, so I can set them to make available online only? I have cleared some space already, although some of the folders have folders nested within them so could take a fair amount of time to trawl through manually. Thanks for reading!Solved1.8KViews0likes5CommentsDropbox uses a ton of hard drive space despite most files being online only
So, I've put ALL my files on online-only because my Mac was running out of space. In my Mac settings, Dropbox takes up 108 GB currently. Once I actually look at what folders are taking up space it's less than 2 GB (you can see in the screenshot what I mean). What is taking up all this space?Solved17KViews4likes53Comments
