Dropbox Plan Basic Device Macbook Air M2 Operating System/Browser (if using the web) MacOS 26.0.1 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) Question or Issue Some time ago Dropbox notified my that my storage was above threshold because another user shared some huge files with me. I quickly deleted those files and several other and now my storage use is now down to 16,64%. However, Dropbox keeps sending me mails insisting that I need to upgrade my plan in spite of my low storage usage. It been a few weeks since I lowered my usage to 16,64% but the out of space-mails keep coming. How do I make this stop? macOS Tahoe 26.0.1 Question:— My account has 2.01 TB of storage - can I expect to be able to use more than 600 GB of storage? Two years ago I ran into a problem when trying to store more than 600 GB and was advised by a member of the Dropbox Help Team to keep within that limit for an optimum performance. I am now planning to transfer my current Dropbox folder containing less than 600 GB to a new Seagate Ultra Touch HDD. and run Dropbox from there on my new iMac. As my account has 2.01 TB of storage is there any reason why I should not be able to exceed the 600 GB limit I have been adhering to? I want to be able to get the full benefit of my 2.01 TB account but am concerned that if I try I will encounter the same problem I had two years ago - i.e. Dropbox updating interminably. Please advise, Norman Fellows38Views0likes1CommentHaving trouble deleting my content. The option isn't there.
Dropbox Plan Basic Device iMac Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Ventura 13.7.8 Question or Issue An email from DropBox invited me to save my computer's files to DropBox. When I attempted to do so, I ran out of space and I've since changed my mind. I would like to delete EVERYTHING in my DropBox account but when I follow the help directions, (hover over the files, click the three dots, etc.) I don't get an option to delete. I've tried in both "list" and "grid" format. See print screen. Please provide simple instructions for deleting everything. I do NOT want to upgrade.Solved167Views1like6CommentsI only have 750GB synced on my 1TB external drive, but it keeps getting full.
I bought a Mac Mini earlier this year and as most Mac Mini owners, the internal drive is too small. So I added a 1TB SSD to a Acasis case (the mini Mac Pro lookalike-case) and followed all the instructions on how to move the Dropbox folder to the external drive. Since then it's been a nightmare. My Dropbox account has about 1,5 TB in it so I don't sync everything but my music folder has to be synced since I'm a DJ. So I have maybe 750GB on the 1TB drive. But after a week Dropbox stopped working and syncing. And the SSD was full. Very weird. Restarts and re-installation of the Dropbox app didn't help. I had to remove files from the drive and then it started indexing, registering and syncing again. But I had to, again, select which folders not to have 'offline'. It worked for a week or two, then the same problem. Again. Exactly the same. Solved it the same way. Worked for a couple of weeks. It's getting a bit tired. It looks like the only way to solve this would be to get a bigger SSD, at least 2TB.190Views0likes15CommentsWhy does the Dropbox Backup site show folder size as ">...." instead of the actual size?
Dropbox plus Imac Sequoia 15.4.1 Question or Issue Various folders backed up using the desktop app. Verified that all my files had been properly backed up in my dropbox backup folders. Some of the folders show an actual size but some (most of them actually) show for example >6.47GB. In this very case the folder is 15.32GB on my own drive. I checked and all the files are included in the dropbox folder. I understand that dropbox is telling me that the folder is greater than 6.47GB but this is very odd number to show instead of 15.32GB... Another issue is that when I double checked the size of single files there is always a slight discrepancy between what my own drive says and what dropbox says. For example: 39.MB on my drive and 37.7 MB on dropbox backup. Why? And on last thing while I am at it, why is a total size of a folder is not showing up on dropbox backup when that folder contains subfolder?Solved203Views0likes5CommentsFinding all offline folders
hi I did a search although couldn't find this questions being asked. Sorry If I missed it! I'm travelling and want to try and make some free space on my Macbook. Is there a way I can find all the files taking up space from Dropbox, so I can set them to make available online only? I have cleared some space already, although some of the folders have folders nested within them so could take a fair amount of time to trawl through manually. Thanks for reading!Solved1.8KViews0likes5CommentsDropbox uses a ton of hard drive space despite most files being online only
So, I've put ALL my files on online-only because my Mac was running out of space. In my Mac settings, Dropbox takes up 108 GB currently. Once I actually look at what folders are taking up space it's less than 2 GB (you can see in the screenshot what I mean). What is taking up all this space?Solved17KViews4likes53CommentsDoes Dropbox create local copies of uploaded files?
My Macbook's 4TB was full. I decided to free 2TB of data on my computer; I first made a backup, uploading that 2TB to Dropbox. I then deleted the 2 TB of data from my computer. However, my computer still shows the 4TB is completely full. I was puzzled, until realizing there is a folder on my computer called Dropbox, that contains the 2 TB that I thought I deleted. Does this mean that Dropbox automatically created a local copy of everything I uploaded? If I delete the 2TB contents of the Dropbox folder, will my computer have 2 TB of free space, while the data will still be backed up in the cloud? As a test, I went ahead and deleted 30 GB of data from my computer's "Dropbox" folder. My computer is not showing any more free space on my computer's disc. Why not?Solved374Views0likes6Comments
