2026 Mobile Fix List: Stop the silent churn in one sprint
Hey Dropbox team, One small mobile squad could fix the 5 things that make people switch to Google Drive every single week: “Add to Dropbox” still dumps files into a random 2-year-old folder → give us root/default folder setting + one-tap root jump Two identical share options: “Add to Dropbox” vs “Share with Dropbox” → rename or kill one 7-inch phones exist → give us two-pane landscape + persistent sidebar like iPad/OneDrive Bulk actions & paste still force folder-hopping → add a docked action bar General: make the app feel built for 2025 screens, not 2015 These are the top complaints for 5+ years. Fixing them = instant retention win, basically free. Please make 2026 the “Just Works Again” mobile release. Long-time user & shareholder (Ready with mockups if you want them)
Turn Auto Play off for audio Files
Please add a way to stop audio files from playing instantly, as soon as you open them. On the Dropbox app, using an iPhone, the minute you open the file it starts playing. If you have previously played that audio file and paused it half way through, you can't stop it from playing in time to take it back to the start. We use Dropbox for our choir and keep our backing tracks and sheet music together. During a performance we need to make sure all the files have been returned to the start and we can't have them ready to go to press play.
Save Offline Folder Link to Home Screen on iOS
I want to be able to go directly to a single offline folder directly by clicking on an icon on my Home Screen on iOS just like I can add (share) a URL from Safari to my Home Screen. One click on an icon on my Home Screen takes me directly into a specific folder in Dropbox folder.
Make markdown file text content searchable on web and mobile app
To my dismay I discovered that text content of markdown (.md / .markdown) files is not searchable through the web / mobile app. Plain-text content of many file formats (.pdf, .txt, etc.) is already searchable so this feels like somewhat of a glaring oversight, seeing as markdown has become ubiquitous in software and tech spaces as a common file format for developer documentation, as well as widely used by note-taking / journaling platforms (Evernote, Obsidian, etc.). Since they are essentially plain-text files, this would be a drop-dead easy feature to implement, as the feature is already built. It would simply involve adding markdown file extensions (.md and .markdown) to the list of plain-text files catalogued by the indexing routine that Dropbox already performs.
