The ability to preserve, view, sort by, etc the original Creation Dates(and other metadata) of files is missing or severely limited in the Dropbox mobile apps. People who donât use Dropbox primarily for business purposes on a computer but, as many of us do these days, use our smartphones as our primary(or only) method of keeping track of media/documents/audio files/etc are having to deal with the frustrating situation of trying and failing to backup/reorganize/download to another mobile device/etc our files without losing this extremely important file metadata. I canât even view ANY file information on non-photo files, and the photos are difficult to even upload with a title that reflects the actual creation date. If not uploaded at a painful 1 image at a time (and many times not even then) the file name will be changed to the upload date/time. The creation date is ALWAYS listed as the upload time or the last time that it was moved, downloaded, re-uploaded, etc. Thereâs no sort by CREATION date, only sort by Modification date which is just a complete denial of basic file management for those of us who manage all of our files on mobile phones and tablets. We desperately need full file information accessibility for Dropbox mobile apps⊠ESPECIALLY the ability to preserve and sort by the ORIGINAL file creation dates⊠and to not lose access to those creation dates when moved, renamed, downloaded, re-uploaded, etc, but to keep them intact despite all modifications. Creation dates and modification dates can be preserved separately without sacrificing one for the other, as long as the filesâ metadata remains intact.6.8KViews22likes26CommentsCan we have an option to add a new folder upon saving a file on the iOS app?
When saving a file or a URL on the DB iPhone app, thx for making it somwhat easier to navigate to when the user wants to save the file. (Though it could be better w options for sort by most recent, alphabetical, etc). But the biggest issue is the user canât create a new folder within the selected folder while still in the save mode. User has to drop the new file loose and then go back and create the new folder and then move the previously dropped file into the newly created folder.5.8KViews6likes17CommentsOn iPad, adjust column widths, or allow line wrap, to show full filenames
Is it possible to prevent long filenames being shortened from the end? My filenames need to have the whole name displayed, rather than having the end characters chopped off. These "end" characters identify the various versions of the same file. Many thanks, JohnF3.5KViews27likes13CommentsMobile app (iOS): Having the option to open unsupported file types as .txt
As there are more file extensions than Dropbox recognizes, I have previously suggested that Dropbox examines the file content for ascii. As no action has been taken on Dropbox side to resolve, I now suggest a simple pop-up window that allows the user to select preview type. As a user/programmer ( in many languages) , I know what my files are, as I have put them in my Dropbox. I am best suited to know how to preview. This would allow me to review/edit files on mobile devices without temporarily renaming to a .txt file extension.930Views0likes5CommentsPlease remove the scroll bar on the mobile app
Could you please remove the scroll bar? It gets in the way. When I open Dropbox to download a file I just uploaded, I have to wait a few seconds for the scroll bar to disappear. It's a mobile app for touchscreens. Why do we need a scroll bar, anyway? The entire screen is a scroll bar.721Views0likes8CommentsPlaying audio files consecutively in the mobile app on iOS
I donât know about you, but I Dropbox to store many things, including audio files. Iâve been trying for years to get Dropbox to add at least away to play multiple files inside a folder. Currently, we can play 1 track at a time and we can loop that 1 track. However, weâre not able to play one track after another or to loop several tracks inside one folder. The excuse is always that dropbox is Storage cloud service. I still believe that it would be a great feature to have so that way I donât have to use a third-party app. In my humble opinion, I think it would highlight and take Dropbox to a whole new level. Anyone else here would like to see these features? I hope so. cheers, claudia407Views3likes9Comments
