The ability to preserve, view, sort by, etc the original Creation Dates(and other metadata) of files is missing or severely limited in the Dropbox mobile apps. People who don’t use Dropbox primarily for business purposes on a computer but, as many of us do these days, use our smartphones as our primary(or only) method of keeping track of media/documents/audio files/etc are having to deal with the frustrating situation of trying and failing to backup/reorganize/download to another mobile device/etc our files without losing this extremely important file metadata. I can’t even view ANY file information on non-photo files, and the photos are difficult to even upload with a title that reflects the actual creation date. If not uploaded at a painful 1 image at a time (and many times not even then) the file name will be changed to the upload date/time. The creation date is ALWAYS listed as the upload time or the last time that it was moved, downloaded, re-uploaded, etc. There’s no sort by CREATION date, only sort by Modification date which is just a complete denial of basic file management for those of us who manage all of our files on mobile phones and tablets. We desperately need full file information accessibility for Dropbox mobile apps… ESPECIALLY the ability to preserve and sort by the ORIGINAL file creation dates… and to not lose access to those creation dates when moved, renamed, downloaded, re-uploaded, etc, but to keep them intact despite all modifications. Creation dates and modification dates can be preserved separately without sacrificing one for the other, as long as the files’ metadata remains intact.6.8KViews22likes26CommentsOn iPad, adjust column widths, or allow line wrap, to show full filenames
Is it possible to prevent long filenames being shortened from the end? My filenames need to have the whole name displayed, rather than having the end characters chopped off. These "end" characters identify the various versions of the same file. Many thanks, JohnF3.5KViews27likes13CommentsPlease remove the scroll bar on the mobile app
Could you please remove the scroll bar? It gets in the way. When I open Dropbox to download a file I just uploaded, I have to wait a few seconds for the scroll bar to disappear. It's a mobile app for touchscreens. Why do we need a scroll bar, anyway? The entire screen is a scroll bar.745Views0likes8CommentsPlaying audio files consecutively in the mobile app on iOS
I don’t know about you, but I Dropbox to store many things, including audio files. I’ve been trying for years to get Dropbox to add at least away to play multiple files inside a folder. Currently, we can play 1 track at a time and we can loop that 1 track. However, we’re not able to play one track after another or to loop several tracks inside one folder. The excuse is always that dropbox is Storage cloud service. I still believe that it would be a great feature to have so that way I don’t have to use a third-party app. In my humble opinion, I think it would highlight and take Dropbox to a whole new level. Anyone else here would like to see these features? I hope so. cheers, claudia440Views3likes9CommentsSearching for files using their full file-path.
Dear team Searching for files (e.g. by name) on the iOS app is very quick and good. However, once found, it would be great if we could see the full filepath of that resulting folder or file (e.g. C:\Dropbox\.... ) so that it can be quickly found on my laptop or desktop machine. Can you add this feature please? (Under the iOS app, you can select 'Show in Folder' via the three dots next to the file, but this still doesn't give visability of the full path.) Thanks if you can help.339Views1like6CommentsThe ability to add tags in the mobile app.
I’m not sure why this has been suggested for years now and this basic functionality still isn’t present in the app. This makes your automation really frustrating if I can’t add tags on my phone when I’m away from my computer and adding files from my phone.328Views7likes7Comments
