Multiple Accounts
60 TopicsHow to manage multiple Dropbox accounts on the same computer?
I am having no end of trouble trying to figure out the best way to coordinate between different email addresses. I have clients who add me to their dropbox using my current work email, that is not connecting to my personal login. I know of the "link" option, but when I go to it in my settings I get a 404 error. Then, I have a third dropbox connected with my former work--the employer removed all sensitive files but I still need to have access to items that other people shared with me via that email address, and I am authorized to access the account. I use dropbox for everything and had migrated my desktop to the cloud, but now when I changed jobs everything is broken. Is there any way to not have to be constantly logging in and out of multiple accounts--especially when I have it set to auto-sync my desktop with all current-working files, it gets very confused when I have to switch accounts. I had a personal dropbox that I accidentally merge with a business account by using the same email. How can I get my personal dropbox back with the email and content that is now associated with business dropbox login.Solved13KViews0likes17CommentsDropbox unlinked my accounts suddenly
Hi there! I've have a free dropbox personal account for 15 years, and at some point added a free Teams account. Several years ago I upgraded the Teams account to a Professional account. ----- Today I got this message, and all my Professional files were taken off my machines (they're still on dropbox of course) Business Dropbox Removed: Your business Dropbox account was removed from this computer because your accounts were unlinked. Your files have not been deleted. ------ I would love to be able to link my two accounts, and continue having two separate dropbox home folders on my machine. Basically, I am leaving the country tomorrow morning and will have extremely limited internet access. I just need it to work how it used to, but I accept that I may need an alternate setup based on whatever Dropbox has changed. When I am signed into my Personal (free) account, it says I have 3TB of space, and the same for the Professional account. Within the settings menu the Pro account is called Personal Account, but when I check the billing plan for the Pro account, it calls it Dropbox Professional. Any solutions? Many Thanks! (too bad this is my only option for customer support 🙂Solved11KViews5likes27CommentsCan I connect two business Dropbox accounts?
I have my own "Personal" Paid Business Dropbox account that I have synced to all my devices. This is a Personal Dropbox account but I pay the annual fee for a Business account as I enjoy the additional features and storage space. I am currently doing some work for a client and need to have their company Business Dropbox account synced to my computer, I do not want to un-sync my paid Business Dropbox account. I tried to use the "Connect My Personal Dropbox Account" feature, however, it tells me I can only connect if I have a personal Dropbox account. So, what I am assuming is because I have decided as a personal user to pay for a Business account, I am now not able to access a feature that I need to be able to work effectively with my client!? Surely there is a way I can connect to my Personal Dropbox account, despite it technically being a Business account? Please help!Solved7.6KViews0likes10CommentsEndless loop when trying to use & connect both my personal & work account.
Here's the scenario. Mac OS Ventura, I have a Work Dropbox account & a Personal one. I connect these online while signed into my personal account easily enough. Go through the websites selective sync process for my personal account which changes the Personal Dropbox folder to the dropbox icon in Finder & in the dropdown menu of the app shows it at the top & as "signed in". Syncing begins, I have access to the right-click menu to assign files as "online only" or "available offline" in Finder, all good so far. I check with dropbox information... here is their quote: "You must be logged into both linked Dropbox accounts on the web session or the app you're using to switch between your accounts." So I move on to signing in to my work account which appears in the dropdown of the app as signed out. Heres where the issues begin... When I go to the app to switch accounts, it takes me back to the online process to selectively sync, however if I follow that through to completion my work account is signed in & my Personal account is now signed out. If I try to sign in to my Personal account in the Preferences / Account tab of the app it takes me back to the online selective sync cycle I've already completed for that account & if I follow that through to completion a second time I am then signed out of my Work account. The same thing happens if I follow Dropboxes own instructions & try to do it on the website. Endless loop ensues. It absolutely baffles me the software engineers get sign off on these products & are able to bring them to market when they are so woefully poorly built. God knows how much my work are paying for this next to useless software... I look forward to a moderator or staff member explaining to me how despite following all instructions this is somehow my fault.Solved3.9KViews0likes21CommentsDesktop app on Mac crashes when trying to link a second account
Hi I was using Dropbox Beta with the new cloud storage location in Ventura. I had both personal and business account on the desktop app. Things were working mostly ok, but I was having some issues with syncing, so I thought I should try leaving the beta. that's when all the problems started. After I left the beta, I could no longer add a second account to the desktop app. I tried adding the Personal account then adding the Business acount. I tried adding the Business account, then adding the Personal account. When I add the second account, Dropbox crashes and it doesn't login. So I went back to the beta to see if that made a difference and it hasn't. So now I'm stuck with only my Business account in the beta Is there anyway to fully reset Dropbox on the computer to fix this? thanks PaulSolved3.8KViews0likes27CommentsDouble accounts under two different email addresses
Apparently in my interactions with Dropbox over the years, I have created two accounts under two different email accounts (it's a surprise to me). My original account, which has my files, I can see in the Finder on my MacBook. However, when I open Dropbox to login, there's a second account under the other email account, and it is empty. So, I can't access my photo files when I login. If I go into settings under the second account, and change the email address to that of the original account, will this resolve this issue? I'm afraid to do it in case it does something that will prevent me from accessing my photo files. Second question: how do I find out if I'm paying for two separate accounts?Solved3.3KViews0likes5CommentsMerge Two Personal Accounts

Hi, I have the android app and my personal (basic) account and work account connected. I've recently noticed that if in the personal account there is no option to switch to the work account. I have to logout of the personal account and then it defaults back to the work account. Then if I want to get back to the personal one I have to login again and it switches ok but if then try to go back to the work account the link has disappeared again. Both accounts show in the settings and everything works ok on PC and online, it is just an app issue and is the same on both my phone (android V12) and tablet V13), both running App version 356.2.2 which I believe is latest.
