Dropbox folder missing from indexed locations for searching on Windows 10
Device HP Desktop Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 10 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 238.4.6075 Syncing Status Up To Date Question or Issue I've not been able to find documents using search in my dropbox folder for a few weeks. I went to indexing options to remove dropbox from indexing and re-add it hoping it would rebuild the index. IT'S NOT THERE TO SELECT AT ALL!! I have my dropbox as a fold in Documents. When I go to C Users Myname Documents, dropbox is not there. I've right clicked the folder and in properties, went to advanced, UNCHECKED allow this folder to have contents indexed and applied that. Then I went back and checked it so they could be indexed and applied that. Dropbox is still not in the indexing options list of folders.436Views1like29Comments
We can no longer add an expiration date or password for our shared links on Family.
Hello, We used to be able to set a password or expiry time for shared files and folders in Dropbox Family. Now this this has been disabled with a prompt to upgrade to "Dropbox Professional". Have certain features been removed from the Dropbox Family plan ? Given that I'm on a "Grandfathered" plan (not sure that's the right word), I have not been notified that any features had been removed. I paid annually and assumed features would remain the same. Hello there, The person that created our Dropbox is no longer interested in being the "Owner" and will not help on passing the torch. Have called into support and created several tickets to this but doesn't seem there's any urgency or response from the 'escalation team' 1. As an ADMIN I cannot see or manage ALL of the folders and files in our Dropbox account because of the Team and Personal Folders - So now I can't see what data is being duplicated and increasing our storage. 2. As an ADMIN I cannot move data from a Team Folder. Also cannot COPY data out of a Team Folder, can only move or copy into another Team Folder 3. Paths and mappings have been ruined to our local data and Synology NAS devices using Cloud Sync. - Now this requires us choking our bandwidth for days/weeks so that we can restore our local data.3KViews1like8Comments
Reset the permissions of all subfolders of a team folder to inherit from the parent
We have a Team Folder with hundreds of Sub folders, many with unique permissions. Some of these sub folders go down several levels and at each of those levels the permissions can be different. Is it possible to reset the permissions on all folders and sub folders to inherit from the parent right the way down the sturcture. Or can we set the perms for everything all the way down the structure to View only? Thanks.953Views1like2Comments
Audit file/folder access for large Business / Group Dropbox account
I've taken over management of an organisation with several large business dropbox accounts. I can see we have a large amount of data that has been shared with external parties, there has been no oversight of this and it would appear that there are some documents that are sensitive that have been shared that shouldn't have been. I really need to audit the entire tenant, and I will need to do so reasonably regularly going forward, but I can't seem to find the tools to do so. Other threads on this site suggest that our only option is to use the the command line API tool to script our own audit of Dropbox access? Can you confirm that this is the case? To be explicit, what I am looking for is to be able to list folders / folder paths and which groups or individual users are able to access that folder, or if some other sharing feature has been used to allow access to those files outside of the immediate users that have primary access to the dropbox tenant. Regulate access to folders
We are a small society with a board, secretariat and several committees . We have a business Dropbox account with 4 team members. What we need: Multiple folders that are owned by Admin. Access to these folders upon invitation (but not through a link) by coworkers and people outside of de Dropbox Team. Some people should have edit rights, most should have viewing rights. Current status: folders are owned by Admin. Admin made folders inside the Team Folder. Team members were denied access (because I do not want all of them to have access) and I invited a Team member and people outside Dropbox team, some with edit and some with viewing rights. That is how I want it, but making it so seems to have messed with 1 Team member’s access both to Team folder as with a folder it owns itself. Can this be caused by how I organized things or not? Dropbox chat suggests I use groups to grant access to folders. Is this necessary/better? I don’t think I can give some group members edit and others viewing rights? I am questioning how many team members I need. Maybe 1 is enough, or just a second as backup?Solved6.4KViews1like3Comments
