We can no longer add an expiration date or password for our shared links on Family.

Hello,

We used to be able to set a password or expiry time for shared files and folders in Dropbox Family. Now this this has been disabled with a prompt to upgrade to "Dropbox Professional".

Have certain features been removed from the Dropbox Family plan ? Given that I'm on a "Grandfathered" plan (not sure that's the right word), I have not been notified that any features had been removed. I paid annually and assumed features would remain the same.

Dropbox doesn't publicly list the Dropbox Family plan anymore, even though it's listed publicly.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for posting about this on our forum, jsnyc7!

Can you clarify when was the last time you were able to set these permissions for shared links on your Dropbox Family subscription?

Can you also send me a screenshot of the message you’re now seeing prompting you to upgrade to Dropbox Professional instead?

Let me know when you’re ready and we’ll go from there.

    Hello Nancy,

I believe it was last year that I could set an expiration. The message to upgrade to Professional is only on the mobile (iOS) device.

It seems that the ability to add expiration dates or passwords to shared links is not available to the Dropbox Family plan at the moment jsnyc7

If you need this kind of functionality, you'd need to upgrade to the plans that currently support it such as the Dropbox Professional, Essentials, Standard, Advanced, Business, Business Plus, and Enterprise plans.

Thank you. But there was no written notice of this change. And we prepaid annually assuming these features would be there. We should be given a credit to switch to a more expensive plan.

Your account would be pro-rata credited to change to a different plan (e.g. if you had only used 6 months of it you'd get a rebate of 6 months towards a different plan and just pay the difference of value between the 6 month and year and whatever it is monthly for that 6 month credit). HOWEVER you'd loose the benefit of shared quota and multiple people being able to use the account - that one is only available in Family. If you changed to something else then you'd get the quota and everybody else would go to 2gb (or whatever they have with referrals).
