Security
30 TopicsGive us the ability to hide the names/emails of members in shared folders.
The hide feature for viewer visibility is strictly for link sharing. Turning off this feature still enables all members inside the folder to view each others emails and names. This is a problem for years and still no new feature added to remedy this issue. It is a HUGE issue when you have 100+ clients agents and not being able to update 100+ folders every 2nd day if a small update occurs..so adding all the emails of the different members (agents etc..) isnt possible for 1 folder only. Since they all can see who else is in the folder (which is a BIG no no)... and no we dont want to share a link..I want to be able to open dropbox, see the folder, click it, view everything, and not be able to see all the competition under the members list. simple just add an option to disable member viewing as well...more than 5 years now and counting..nothing has been done to adress this NEED from the consumer. I pray I am just so misinformed and that there is some feature or setting hiding somewhere to help with this. (8 months ago I was informed by a dropbox member (alicedropbox) that this feature is not available YET, so I hope atleast its being worked on). I am a little frustrated as this will save so much time and effort, being able to edit only one folder after each update or change.25Views0likes2CommentsHow can I remove some users from the list of external collaborators?
I can gave access to some "Joe Random" to a file he needed to download. Fine. All good. 4 years later, the file is deleted, and his name still comes up on my list of external collaborators. There is zero reason for any Rando's to be listed here. There are 91 of them. There should be like 4-5 of them. How can I get rid of these names that no longer need access to files? Joe Rando and his 85 friends can go!73Views0likes7CommentsWhy would an organization not accept a JPEG file uploaded from Dropbox?
As part of onboarding for a particular organization I had to upload an image of a particular document. Having taken the picture on my phone I uploaded it to Dropbox so that I could then easily upload it from the browser on my laptop where I was accessing the onboarding application. However, I got a message back that the email failed "due to security restrictions" (unspecified). I presume I'll hear back from the organization in due course regarding this. In the meantime, is it possible/likely that the issue here relates to Dropbox as the source for the upload, and if so, what could be the security risk that is perceived here? As far as I'm concerned, Dropbox is just another Windows folder on my laptop, but one which has the convenience that I can access it from anywhere. I frequently upload files from Dropbox to various destinations but this is the first time I've had a problem doing so (assuming that is actually the problem). I'm not aware of any risks that could be incurred in having a picture uploaded from Dropbox but if anyone can provide further information that might explain what has happened I'd be most grateful.Solved52Views0likes9CommentsThere is a Dropbox Transfer on my account that I didn't send
I got an email that I sent a file transfer. I did not create this transfer nor the file. I got an email that I had recieved a file transfer from me. Again I did not send. No one else has access to my account. I did a "security check" and changed my password just in case. I am concerned that it looks like someone used my account to create a transfer70Views0likes14CommentsI can't password-protect my files/folders. Why is that?
Hi, I've been trying to set up a password to secure my Dropbox folder, but I can't get it to work. I followed all the instructions in the guidance, but it didn't work. Please let me know what might be the problem. I've done the step below: Login in your Dropbox account. Click the Share option beside the name of the file or folder that you wish to share. In the pop-up window, click Link settings. save the password. Thank you.212Views0likes1CommentHow can I make sure only a specific user can access my shared link?
Is there a way to send a share link to a user who does not have a Dropbox account, but restrict the viewing to only that person? In other words, I don't want to send the link with "Anyone with Link" setting, because I don't want them to forward the link to others. I tried the "Only People Invited" option, and I added their email to the Shared List, but it keeps asking for them to create a Dropbox account when they try and view the file. I must be doing something wrong, just not sure what. Any help would be apprecitated.310Views0likes2CommentsSimple report of all Transfers
Our data is our capital. That’s why I deactivated all Link-Sharings to external persons. But sometimes we have to give access to larger files or folders. Therefore Dropbox Transfer is perfect. BUT I would like to have a simple list of all Transfers and a daily or weekly email report who transferred which data to which person or business partner. Thanks 🙂 Ruben468Views0likes3CommentsCan I choose what folders can be accessed from different computers?
My question is very basic. I have 2 personal computers and one from my company. I have Dropbox on all 3, all sync. I don't want my personal folders to appear on my company computer, as there is a small possibility that remote access to that computer by third parties. What I do want, is to be able to access my work folders on my personal computers Is it possible to have everything synced and at the same time prohibit some folders from connecting to one of the computers? Excuse my ignorance, I lack the technical language to better formulate my question. Don't know if I've made myself clear.313Views0likes1CommentDeleted folder and files still accessible via shared link
I shared a folder of files a few days ago. Today I deleted the folder and the underlying files. However, the link still works, the files still show up in the download page, and files are still able to be downloaded. To be clear, the folder and files do not exist locally on disk nor on the original dropbox.com location. I physically deleted them. So they should not be accessible via the shared linked, yet they are. Tried multiple browsers, they're still visible and downloadable.1.6KViews1like8Comments
