Hey everyone! Having troubling sharing link with someone (Anyone with a link). Whenever someone clicks the link, the page appear blank white. The link won't load at all, just a white screen. I've deleted the link and recreated it. Still won't show up. Also, not just this specific link. It's all of the links. Any tips?Solved11KViews7likes33CommentsBulk delete shared links
I just found that deleting all the shared links that accumulate over time isn't that easy. In fact, I have to click on each one's ellipsis and then click again on "Delete". Imagine the fun I had for all those files and folders. May I suggest Dropbox made more use of the concept called "Checkbox", which is widely used in other parts of it's UI.5.7KViews7likes5CommentsKeep the comments in previous file versions
When I upload a new version I want to be able to keep the comments which were already present in the previous version. Some of the comments have been resolved but most haven't How do I do that? I'm working on an animation film so duration won't vary much anymore. When working in editing I think drag and dropping comments would be a great addition. Hope to hear from you.2.5KViews6likes7CommentsI'd like to receive real-time email notifications
Dear Forum Users, I am currently using a free Dropbox account for the purpose of testing. The objective of the overall exercise is to identify web-based solutions for the storage of and collaboration on documents of various standard file types (MS Office files, pdf files etc). I understand that in the notifications menu in Settings I can check the box for "Activity in shared folders (weekly digest)". This presumably means that once a week I get an email message describing what "happened" in shared folders (i.e., additions, revisions, deletions; additional users with access to the folder etc). My company is currently using Egnyte for sharing and jointly working on documents with clients. Egnyte offers the option of receiving updates of the type referred to above on a daily or even on a real-time basis. The real-time notifications have become an essential element of our workflows, so we would only consider switching to Dropbox if a paid Dropbox plan offered the same feature. I have noted that upon installing the desktop app it may be possible to receive notifications of the kind I am referring to although they would presumably not be sent / received via email. Unfortunately, relying on the use of the desktop app is not an option for us. The notifications about changes need to be sent by email and they need to work even if only the web-based version of Dropbox is used. If anyone knows whether any (and, if yes, which) paid Dropbox plan provides the exact functionality that I am looking for I would be grateful for a reply. From some brief research in the "help" section of the website, I note that the notification settings for Dropbox Paper are different / separate from the ones for the regular Dropbox. Ideally the answer would also describe which notifications (if any) are available for Dropbox Paper. From my research, I also note that the use of an additional third-party programme such as Growl or Zapier might make it possible to receive the kind of notifications that we are interested in. We would be happy to consider this option. The cost of additional app subscriptions is not a concern, but whatever we end up setting up has to absolutely, reliably work. Whatever the responses may be, many thanks in advance for your time and trouble. EdSolved13KViews6likes15CommentsNo Longer Able to Create Shared Links
This afternoon, I was in Windows Explorer and tried as I have many times before to create a link to share a file. However, the option to create a link was no longer available. After restarting my computer and having the same experience, I logged in using my web browser and found that I couldn't create a shared link from there either. I then contacted Support and they had me restart Dropbox, etc., but nothing restored the create a shared link option. While online with Support on my Windows machine, I logged in to Dropbox using my MacBook's web browser, and saw the following message: "Sharing for backed up files is going away". Their explanation was that "To help prevent accidental sharing, we've removed the option to share files directly from backup." They then went on to say that "You can still share with others by dragging files into your dropbox.com folder." This is totally ridiculous, as one of the reasons I signed up for Dropbox is the ability to directly share files from Windows Explorer (or Finder in the macOS). With that removed, Dropbox isn't that different from iDrive, where you create a shared folder and use that to share documents (iDrive is what I left to join Dropbox). It should be up to the user how and where they want to share files. If I accidently share a file, that is my problem, and taking that option away to protect people from doing so makes this service far less than it was when I signed up. I also just paid for a full year's subscription about 6 weeks ago and inquired as to whether or not I could get a partial refund since the current service is NOT what I signed up for. As you could imagine, the response was "No". I urge everyone who is having this issue to flood Support to get Dropbox to reverse this stupid decision. In the meantime, I I'll be evaluating other options to see if there's anything that can give me what I'm looking for.2.9KViews3likes7CommentsHow can someone sort my files in a shared link by date instead of by name?
I shared a folder from my Dropbox with some dealers using a link. When they open the link, the contents of that folder are sorted by name, but I want to add more files from time to time and would like them to appear on top. My dealers can't change the order of the files by date by themselves, how can I do it for them so when they click on the link that they will all files would be sorted by date and NOT by name?Solved3.1KViews2likes7CommentsHow can I generate a report for shared files/folders in a Dropbox for Business team?
I am looking to generate a report on every single shared file ands folder in our Dropbox for Business environment and who has access. Ideally I would generate a CSV where each share would be in a column and each user who has access would be in a second column. What is the best way of generating such a report?
