A friend and I share mp3 files through dropbox though I use dropbox.cm and he uses dl.dropboxusercontent.com. The link I send him looks and behaves differently than the one he sends me. He gets a button to download the file while his link opens Windows Media Player and I must go through a few more steps to download the file. This is non-copyrighted material, by the way. The only way to get his link when clicked is to add a suffix with the characters - ?dl=0 to the end of the link. What gives with this?Solved201KViews10likes22CommentsHow to download large files and folders from Dropbox
I am using dropbox desktop to upload a bunch of files for clients. Each client has a folder created for them, and in that folder are files that are up to roughly 10gb in size. The client and I are not sharing back and forth, all they need to do is download the files in that folder once. I would assume that most of my clients are not dropbox members, and are trying to download with the web client. On the web client, there is a download button so they can download the contents of that folder. However, everyone who tries to download the files get the same message: "file is too large to download". On any given day, I could have up to 5 people trying to download thier files from me. Is there a limit on how much storage can be downloaded in a day? How can I get my files to my clients?Solved131KViews3likes11CommentsWhen forcing a PDF to preview in a browser, it only shows the first page
Hi! I'm running into an issue when previewing a pdf file in dropbox only shows the first page of the file (picture below for reference). I use the "raw=1" extension at the end of the file, and so far that's worked well. Now out of the blue, it seems to only display the first page of the file. Is there any way of fixing this, or possibly use a different file extension to use to preview the file? We send this file out to many potential clients so it needs to work easily on mobile and desktop browsers. I'd use "dl=1" except that really doesn't work at all on phones. Thanks! Hello I am trying to make a folder public, but whenever I share the link the receivers (including myself) cannot download the files. We are guide to the file on dropbox but the file cannot be downloaded. An example is: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/f549knzc9eg3jvb/AACdPY9KOKqRpTrKLhYlKOWia?dl=0 This is not in a public folder. But it is a problem that has happen again after March 15. An immediate answer is appreciated. Thanks BjarkeSolved39KViews0likes12CommentsCan no longer host images using Dropbox?
I've been hosting an image for my PayPal checkout banner using the Public folder but today it is no longer showing up on PayPal. I assume that's because the Public folders are no longer actually public. I tried moving the image file over to another folder and set the permissions to "anyone with the link" can view it. I copied the link but PayPal is rejecting it, probably because the file name ends with .jpg?dl=0 instead of simply .jpg. PayPal requires that the image be hosted on a secure server; that's why I had been using Dropbox to achieve this. What can I do to make it work again?Solved35KViews0likes14CommentsFake activity?
Yesterday I uploaded a movie file to Dropbox for some friends to download. Immediately after, I decided to check from a browser that wasn't logged in, to see what it would look like for them if they didn't have a Dropbox account. I was shocked to discover, under “Activity”: “Patricia Johnson downloaded this file” and “Anthony Abate viewed this file” (neither name recognised by me): So, then I logged in to investigate, but only saw “Traffic and insights: See who’s visiting... Upgrade to Dropbox Professional to start tracking.”: Surely this isn’t a scare tactic to get me to upgrade to a paid account, is it??Solved34KViews1like12CommentsGetting downloading link of files in Dropbox automatically
I have some huge images in a folder on the web version of Dropbox that I need to make a shell script to download them one by one (There isn't enough room on my SDD and can't download the whole folder). I know using "wget" I can download a file: wget link_to_the_file However since I have many images it is not feasible to get the download link of each of them manually. I'm looking for a way of obtaining downloading link for each of them through the shell. Any suggestions?Solved28KViews0likes4Comments
