A while ago, I made a slide show from a folder full of jpgs through dropbox, that I was able to email the link to people, I'd like to do it again. I don't remember how to though. Anyone know? Windows. Been using dropbox successfully for years.31Views0likes4CommentsI shared a video with someone else, but they can only preview the first two hours.
Device (Acer Nitro 5) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) (Windows 11) Dropbox App Version (if using the app) Syncing Status ("Up to date") Question or Issue I linked a large mp4 video file (2:04:00, 8.6 GB) and the recipient tells me that it stopped at 2:00:08. The 8.6 GB is well under the file size limit, but is there a time limit on viewing? Is there something else I should be doing? I have it set up in file manager for view only and not to be downloaded.Solved116Views0likes5CommentsPassword-protected links should allow direct download without login or register
When I share a file or folder and create a password-protected link, it would be great if, when someone opens it, they aren’t asked to log in or register — clicking the download button should simply download the file.134Views0likes3CommentsHow can I download a PDF file shared by a Dropbox shared link?
I received a link to a Drop Box PDF file of Drawings. I want to download it as a PDF and edit it in Blue Beam software program and save the edited files to my computer. However, when I click on the sent link the program only gives me the ability to look at the file, not download it. I joined with a Drop Box professional purchase but still can't figure out how to make this work.143Views0likes2CommentsEmbed link for audio files not working consistently (was working until last week)
Hello, I’ve been using Dropbox to host and embed audio files on external websites. The way I’ve been doing this is by changing the link format like this: Original link: [Removed as per Community Guidelines] Link I’ve been using (embed): [Removed as per Community Guidelines] I am not on a paid plan, and this method had been working perfectly fine until last week. However, since this week, the embed links suddenly stopped working. What’s strange is that the link works in the morning (KST), but not in the evening or night (KST). I also tested this with a brand-new free account and the same issue occurs, so it doesn’t seem to be related to account lock or restrictions on my specific account. This problem is not only affecting me—other users are experiencing the exact same issue. My questions are: Is this an intentional change by Dropbox? Is there any way to resolve this? Or is this simply no longer possible for free (or all) users? I would really appreciate any clarification or advice from the community or Dropbox experts. Thank you!136Views0likes4CommentsIssues with downloading big files through a shared link
I uploaded some big files to Dropbox and installed a public link allowing download of them. When I sign out and pretend to be the public trying to download them it says they are too big to download and require transfer to a Dropbox account. If they're not to big to UPLOAD how can they be too big for the public to DOWNLOAD? I need to make these big files available to the public without risking a DDoS attack on my server.Solved545Views0likes5CommentsLarge Dropbox downloads fail at 20% and the site becomes unreachable
Device: HP Laptop 15-da0xxx Operating System/Browser: Windows 11 Dropbox App Version/Browser Version: Edge 127.0.2651.105, Firefox 129.0 Question or Issue: When trying to download or sync large files from Dropbox (either via a shared link or after adding them to my own account), the transfer consistently fails around 10–20 percent completion. I often get HTTP Error 403 in my download manager, or the download just stops. After this happens, Dropbox.com or the shared link stops loading completely for several minutes before becoming accessible again. I’ve tested this on multiple browsers, devices, and networks, and other large downloads (7GB plus) from non-Dropbox sources work fine. I even started a free trial of the Professional plan (3TB) to rule out storage limits, but the problem persists. The issue seems specific to Dropbox. I need these files urgently for work, so any insight or fix would be greatly appreciated.632Views0likes4CommentsLarge file downloads are incomplete from a Dropbox shared link
Hello, I am experiencing an issue when downloading a large .MOV file (13.7 GB) from a link a friend shared with me. The file is stored in their Dropbox and has fully uploaded on their side. When I use the shared link, I see the preview page and click the “Download” button. The file downloads, but it is always incomplete, anywhere from 5 GB to 11 GB instead of the full 13.7 GB. The resulting file is corrupted and cannot be opened. Troubleshooting I have tried: Tested on three different laptops (two Windows, one macOS/Safari) Tried multiple browsers (Chrome, Edge, Safari) Used incognito/private browsing mode Tried two completely separate internet connections (WIFI) I have enough of free space on my PC In every case, the download finishes prematurely and the file size varies between attempts. This only happens with Dropbox, I can download similarly large files from other services without issue. I also noticed that when accessing the link, panels pop up prompting me to log in or upgrade from the free plan. I cannot help but wonder if these interruptions are contributing to the incomplete downloads or if this is an intentional limitation to encourage subscription. Could you please explain why the download is truncated and provide a working method for downloading the full file from the link? Is there a limitation with downloading large files from the web interface, even when using the Download button? My Workflow: I often receive Dropbox links from my team through various channels — Slack, email, AirDrop, Notion, etc.To review the files, I need to open them in specific apps, since the file types don’t support previews on the web. …And that’s where things get tricky. Current Situation with Dropbox: When using the Dropbox website on macOS with Safari, I don’t get an option to open the file in Finder. My current workaround is to try to locate where the file sits in our folder hierarchy and then search for it manually in Finder… which is such a pain. What I’m Hoping For: Instead of flooding us with Formula 1 ads and promoting Dash (which isn’t even available to me), I wish Dropbox would focus on supporting simple workflows like this: Receive a link → Open the file in my default app for that file type. No, I don’t want to go to the web app, download the file, and risk creating duplicates that break the single source of truth. No, I don’t want to memorize file paths 10 times a day. And no, I shouldn’t have to dig into port settings or run terminal commands to make this work. Am I missing something? How are other teams dealing with this? Thanks!132Views0likes2Comments
