I have been using dropbox to store and access microsoft documents on my mac for months but out of nowhere this morning when I clicked to open a document I was told 'Word cannot open the document: user does not have access privileges'. I created the document so I don't see why there would be an issue. Does anyone have advice on how to fix this? Thank youSolved110KViews0likes24CommentsWhy can't I open Microsoft files on my mobile device?
I updated my iPad Pro & now I can't open Dropbox files in Microsoft apps. I can see Dropbox, and I can open in other apps (Adobe, for instance), but Word, Excel, etc. tell me that the server is gone or the files are no longer on the server. But they are where they belong, and I can open them on other devices.Solved75KViews8likes173CommentsExcel keeps opening an old version of a file on Samsung tablet
Hi all. I use a tablet (Samsung) to open excel 'quote sheets' that are stored on dropbox. I always open the same file then use the 'save as' to save it under the customer's name. The problem is when there has been a slight alteration to the original file, my tablet seems to want to open the version before! The only way I can stop it doing this is to call the 'quote sheets' something slightly different ('quote sheet 1'). I do go onto drop box and have that file available offline and when the 'quote sheet' has been altered it does update itself so drop box knows that there is a newer version but as soon as I open it with excel the old version pops up again! Anybody had this issue? I have put this question on the Microsoft website and they said it was a dropbox problem! (Passing the buck comes to mind!) https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_excel-mso_other-mso_o365b/excel-keep-opening-an-old-version-of-a-file/721c23a8-b672-4a3d-93ca-152ab6475cc1 Thanks in advance ;-) JoeSolved49KViews1like7CommentsWhy are my Dropbox folders not showing in the iOS Files app on my iPhone?
iphone 6 latest ios in dropbox ios app (and on Mac Desktop), both my DB accounts show up. In mail, go to "attach file" and no DB accounts show up in Locations. In ios Files, no DB accounts show up in Locations. This happened last time there was a major ios upgrade, and we had to stand around while DB blamed Apple. (Please join this with the same issue feedback I just sent, that DB just acknowlkedged with a link that I can't open using these credentials - add feedback to THIS Q&A please, not the other way around)Solved47KViews6likes21CommentsEditing PDFs in Dropbox from my iPad
I'm trying to edit/markup PDFs that I have stored in Dropbox from my iPad. I'm using an Apple Pencil that's capable of "markup." The adobe integration was meant to be the answer for this; however, Adobe is now charging extra for the ability to edit. Apple allows you to edit Dropbox PDFs nicely through files; however, this seems to be hit or miss as sometimes the files won't open or get re-directed to Dropbox. Are there other ways to edit PDFs from the iPad and have it sync with Dropbox? This would seem like it should be a top priority for an added feature. OneDrive, for example, has the functionality built directly into their app. Any help would be much appreciated.Solved40KViews9likes12CommentsAn Official Client for Synology NAS Devices
Hi all, I use Dropbox daily and I love it. As a part of my current setup, I sync the entirety of my Dropbox folder to my Synology NAS device, in order to have all of my data available to me locally, through LAN (my laptop doesn't have enough disk space to allow for that), and to be able to copy the Dropbox data elsewhere to serve as a backup. Right now, I'm using Synology's official application - Cloud Sync - to retrieve the Dropbox data. I believe it works quite well (it has some drawbacks), but it would NEVER be as reliable as an official app. Since the OS that powers Synology units - DSM - is Linux-based, I hope this suggestions is not too much, as there's already an official Dropbox Linux client. Thanks!38KViews130likes31CommentsMoving files from Google drive to Dropbox
I have a folder of .jpg and .mov files in a shared Google drive folder, which I want to move to a folder in Dropbox. Can I do this without having to download them from Google drive onto my Mac and then upload into Dropbox? Can I just transfer them from one to the other? Thank you!Solved36KViews0likes3CommentsPDF files open as read only on Acrobat Reader (on Android)
I haven't had any problem editing PDF files on my Android tablet until now. I simply opened dropbox, and opened the PDF in Adobe Acrobat from dropbox. Lately, when I open a PDF in Adobe Acrobat from dropbox, I get an error message telling me I can only open the file read-only. This applies to all my files. When I open a PDF directly from Adobe Acrobat, I don't have this problem. I suspect this is related to a recent update of either app.Solved30KViews5likes40Comments
