Device Ryzen 7 5800 CPU, 32 GB DDR4 RAM, Dropbox folder is on a 1TB SSD, 26 GB of Dropbox storage. Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 10 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 238.4.6305 Syncing Status "Downloading" Question or Issue Since yesterday, my dropbox desktop app has been stuck "downloading" 580 files, making no progress at all and using 10-20% CPU usage indefinitely. I have tried pausing, unpausing, restarting the app, and rebooting my computer, to no avail. The diagnostics from clicking "Sync & Storage" shows 0 sync issues. Is there something wrong with the servers?Solved47Views0likes9CommentsMy Windows desktop app can't sync 19 files (I'm asked to give permission for access).
Device Lenovo desktop) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 automatically updated, Chrome Browser also updated automatically Dropbox App Version/Browser Version 238.4.6305 updated regularly Question or Issue Dropbox recently had a "disagreement" with One Drive following a Microsoft update and was unable to sync some files. I have uninstalled One-Drive and everything now appears to be syncing properly except for 19 files which return the result below. All appear to be programmes but I have no idea how to grant the necessary permission or even if it is necessary to back up these items. I have tried browsing the forum but cannot find a simple solution there or in the "help" menu. How do i resolve this problem?27Views0likes1CommentBackup unable to enable: Backup "Not in default location"
Device OMEN by HP 45L Gaming Desktop GT22 Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Home Version 23H2 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) v238.4.6305 Syncing Status Syncing Question or Issue Trying to use Dropbox Backup to "backup" my entire library, cover art and other audio archives. I'm received this error: Dropbox is on my "D" HHD drive...away from the system files on the "C" drive. The "Music" library is ALSO on the "D" drive. I am NOT syncing any of the music files to Dropbox...unlike documents and videos. I want them to live on my hard drive and simply backup to Dropbox. Otherwise, Dropbox is performing as it should: No sync issues, "screenshot" and "camera uploads" working perfectly. Backup seemed to be a natural solution for my music vs. me manually dragging music files from explorer to Dropbox. Please let me know what other info you need. Thank you.23Views0likes1CommentWhat are the steps to sync files to a new PC with Windows 11?
Device Windows 11 (New Laptop) I got a new Windows 11 machine. Before I make the switch I wanted to make sure I've got the steps to easily sync my files onto the new machine. Please comment on my expected steps below. Pause syncing on old machine. Install DB on new machine, sign in and sync FROM DB. (would this be a "restore")? Once files are confirmed I can uninstall DB from old machine and wipe the drive. This seems too simple. Am I missing any little nuance somewhere?20Views0likes1CommentDropbox folder missing from indexed locations for searching on Windows 10
Device HP Desktop Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 10 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 238.4.6075 Syncing Status Up To Date Question or Issue I've not been able to find documents using search in my dropbox folder for a few weeks. I went to indexing options to remove dropbox from indexing and re-add it hoping it would rebuild the index. IT'S NOT THERE TO SELECT AT ALL!! I have my dropbox as a fold in Documents. When I go to C Users Myname Documents, dropbox is not there. I've right clicked the folder and in properties, went to advanced, UNCHECKED allow this folder to have contents indexed and applied that. Then I went back and checked it so they could be indexed and applied that. Dropbox is still not in the indexing options list of folders.236Views1like29CommentsDesktop App stuck on "Updating Dropbox account..."
Hello, I logged on this morning to find that my desktop app (Windows 10) for Dropbox is stuck on "Updating Dropbox Account..." and won't budge. I even attempted to re-install Dropbox, and that didn't work. Can someone help me with this, please? Thanks, AimeeSolved15KViews2likes30CommentsOnly want to sync specific folders synced on my other device.
I have all my files in Dropbox on my PC. I want to "some" of them, not all of them on my laptop. When I downloaded Dropbox on the laptop, I ended with "all" files on the laptop. Can someone please let me know how to remove those files I don't want on the laptop? Or do I have to start all over? And then if I have to start all over, how do I only get the files I want? Thank you!14KViews2likes6CommentsFolders added from one device don't show up on Window File Explorer between two devices.
I created a folder and subsequently created some files in a Dropbox folder from a laptop here in the office. This folder fails to show up in Windows File Explorer on another computer in the office. I can see the folder from the Dropbox App and tell it to open the files with the software on this computer, but I cannot see the folder from Windows File Explorer. This has been going on for several days now, and have re-booted this computer to see if it would sync up, but no success.Solved22KViews1like9CommentsSome available offline files won't preview after changed from online-only on Windows.
Iâm afraid weâre are migrating away from Dropbox, however whilst doing so we have noticed the following issueâŠ. (Windows 11 â Latest Dropbox Version). Hence we though this may be useful. Most of our 2TB files are stored as âOnlineâ only using Selective Sync. We then change the file status to âAvailable offlineâ so Dropbox copies(syncâs) the files back to the local disk from Dropbox.com. After some time (several hours) the Dropbox app confirms that all files are syncâd and the Dropbox task bar icon also indicates a complete/no activity status. The PC is rebooted and Dropbox is then uninstalled When trying to view via the PC the now syncâd Zip, Jpeg, Docx some of the files are corrupted/wonât open. As a test using Dropbox.com we manually download a problem file using MS Edge and the files will open correctly. It would seem that the Windows Dropbox client indicates it has finished its jobs even through it hasnât fully completed syncing ⊠We've also noticed that the corrupted file vs good file byte size are the same. We could duplicate this fault. Any thoughts ?7.8KViews0likes18CommentsI use long path file names (greater than 260 characters). Is there a reason to reduce them?
I have a few hundred files with paths that are more than 260 characters. However, I have Windows 10 set to enable long file paths (greater than 260 characters), and my experience is that Dropbox will properly sync files with paths greater than 260 characters. Assuming this is the case, would there be any reason to take the time to identify files with long path names and reduce the path names to be under the traditional limit Windows limit of 260 characters? If I do decide to reduce the file path lengths, should I do this on the Windows side or on the Dropbox side?Solved13KViews0likes2Comments
