We use Dropbox in our company and despite default settings being set to online only, I've noticed that Dropbox will sill download all files as offline. This has happened to a few users lately. The steps that I have taken is to sign out of Dropbox, unlink the account, delete the files on the hard drive, restart the computer and re-sign in. I have double verified that the settings say online only but despite this after a few days it will download all files offline again. There is something wrong with Dropbox and I'm not sure if it's a windows update or what. All we use is Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and Blue Beam PDF. The antivirus we use is Microsoft's windows defender. Any ideas what is causing this would be greatly appreciated.76Views1like7CommentsNavigating within the Dropbox folder in File Explorer in Windows 11 is very slow
I'm having an issue when navigating through the folders in the Dropbox directory on Windows 11. It is taking approximately 30 seconds to open any folders within the Dropbox folder. I timed one just now with a stopwatch, it took 32 seconds to open a folder. Other drives on this PC load up quickly, but also other directories in the same SSD are working fine and open instantly, so it's not a faulty drive. I have restarted my PC several times, tried restarting Windows Explorer via task manager, doing any updates, and making sure there aren't any Sync Issues within Dropbox. I have also completely removed any files larger than 4GB from Dropbox via 'Manage Hard Drive space', in case it's a large file issue. It wasn't happening a couple of days ago, but I did notice this issue in the past, and it seemed to be fixed by a Dropbox update some years ago. I am seeing that this same bug was reported around 2021, 4 years ago. Apparently, the same issue is back now. For now, my workaround is Right Click > Open Folder in New Tab, or adding a folder to Quick Access. Either of these options nulls the bug, so I've narrowed it down to only happening when you open a folder by double clicking, right-clicking open, or hitting Enter to open. Ever since this update was forced upon us, my File Explorer no longer works properly. It takes forever to load with a green bar at the top and white icons. When it does finally load, if I click on a file to either open it or copy it or whatever, I get the blue donut and nothing happens for ages. I have to go away and do something else for 5 or 10 minutes before it will finally allow me to right-click or open it. I am beyond frustrated now. It took me over an hour to complete a simple copy and paste task this morning that would normally take less than 5 minutes. I simply cannot run my business this way. I've tried various things such as the obvious rebooting etc. I also tried to rename the Shell Icon Overlays as there is apparently a limit in Windows and Dropbox was apparently causing an overlay limit conflict. I also cleared my thumbnail/icon cache. Nothing I do is working. It's awful and I hate the change. I just want it to work. File Explorer isn't great at the best of times as it's so unreliable and I've always had to restart it 2 or 3 times a day. But now it's not working for me at all. Please can someone help? I am incredibly busy at work and have now wasted a good 4 hours on this. I really desperately need to get on with my work. I'm using Windows 10 Pro and it's up to date.84Views1like4CommentsFiles never finish syncing after an update on the desktop app for Windows

Hi everyone, I have this issue for almost two months now. After some major Dropbox update somewhere at the end of April, if I'm not mistaking, I got continuous sync showing for thousands of files in my desktop app & tried to reinstall it (Windows 11). I get this message each time ever since. I'm not technician at all, tried different methods that I was suggested to do, including, antivirus stop, deep cleanup etc. Tried a stable version, suggested in other thread here in community, but nothing helps - I still get this message each time. Please help me guys, it's very inconvenient, annoying and doesn't help my workflow at all. I like greatly both Dropbox and the Microsoft Surface Pro. The 2019/20 Pro X however, I discovered to my cost, used ARM microsoft architecture, and Dropbox could not be installed on it. The later run, esp. the most recent Pro 11, is said to use ARM elements but to cover this 'a new x86 emulator known as Prism, which promises better x86 emulation performance'. Does anybody know if it is (fully) compatible with Dropbox? Thanks12Views0likes1CommentI'm now getting rcraid.sys crashes as Dropbox re-syncs everything on my Windows 10 device.
As the title says, my computer was running perfectly and I was uploading a file. Next thing I know, dropbox started to resync a load of files and then my machine started crashing. Is anyone else having this issue? I am on a pc laptop, AMD 3080 card with 64 gb ram. If i disable sync and or kill dropbox app i have no issues. Update: after installing the app and after an hour the crashes have returned. Attempting to navigate the issue so cause is uncertain, thanks!26Views0likes2CommentsExplorer preview is failing when using subst on Dropbox desktop app.
The latest update has caused explorer preview handlers to fail for multiple filetypes including all images and solidworks cad files. The files will preview fine if they are selected using the raw dropbox file path. E:\Dropbox\some folder\some file.jpg If the file is accessed using a subst file mapping then the preview is left blank subst R: "E:\Dropbox\some folder" R:\some file.jpg If the file is outside dropbox and mapped using subst the preview works fine.71Views0likes7CommentsI can't save an Adobe PDF file with Windows File Explorer open
I can't save an edited PDF with the Windows file explorer open. I thought it was because another user had the file open, but then I discovered that I can save the file if I close the file explorer first, which doesn't make sense. I get an Adobe Acrobat message stating, "The document could not be saved. The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder." I removed all other devices from the Dropbox account and that did the trick for a little while, but now I'm getting this message again any time I edit a PDF and try to save it where it is. I close the window, hit save, and locate the file again. How can I fix this so I don't have to close the file explorer every time I edit a document in Dropbox on desktop?29Views0likes2Comments
