I can login successfully, but needs me to check 6-digit code in email. Before immigration, login dropbox never needs me to check 6-digit code in email. After immigration, it needs me to check 6-digit code in email. (same computer) My email account was disabled (long time no use and I forgot the password), I can't login to my email to check the 6-digit code. I only want to login Dropbox without check email 6-digit code, so what can I do? ThanksSolved62KViews4likes429CommentsIs there an ultimate recourse for 2FA deactivation ? (entirely locked out of my account)
Hi there, The situation is simple: I used to have dropbox and stopped using it years ago. Now i'd like to come back. I have lost access to my account and have no recovery option available at all. - I don't own any device that is still connected to the account through the app - I don't own any device that still has the 2FA token installed on an authentication app - I don't have the 2FA recovery codes anymore - I have changed phone number since then So this is a case where I have no solution at all to regain access, which is ok. It's my fault, and there is no data loss involved at all. That being said, now that I'd like to come back, I'd ideally like to use my main email address / historic account. My question therefore is: Is there a team inside the Dropbox company that can, on a case-by-case basis, turn off 2FA for a lost account ? I understand that this would only be on very select case-by-case basis because otherwise it opens up potential attack vectors. I also understand that this is my fault and no one else's so I'm not here to assign blame or to complain. I'm just wondering if there is a team inside the Dropbox company that does that. I can provide a ton of proof of my identity, my ownership of the email address (and of the domain name that email address is on), my being the original user (with IP addresses used at the time and other information), etc. Also, I have access to the email address of the account in question (it's my main address) and I have the valid password for it. So, are there any documented cases of such a thing being possible ? Microsoft once saved my ass during a similar situation after a catastrophic business IT event, although that was with a paid account. In the case of this issue here, I'm not a paying customer anymore, alhough I was and would like to be again... If no solution exists, I'll simply use another email address and create a new account, although I'd prefer to find a solution and regain access to the account based on my main email. Thank you everyone for your time, cheers ! PS: I have already contacted the support team (in my country, not the english-speaking support) and they keep answering with boilerplate "use your recovery codes / your phone number" eventhough I've explained what I just laid out here, so I'm simply here in the hopes that I can get an unambiguous "yes" or "no" answer to the question of whether or not an ultimate, case-by-case recourse procedure exists.Solved2.4KViews2likes6CommentsReceived a "Complete your DropBox setup" e-mail out of nowhere
I just received a "Complete your DropBox setup" e-mail with instructions for doing just that -- it has the usual checklist in the e-mail and shows step 1 "create a dropbox account" as completed but then shows the next step as "download the desktop and mobile apps". Well, what exactly triggered this e-mail? Because I've been a member already for many, many years, and I already have both the mobile and desktop apps installed and set up on multiple devices. I haven't done anything recently that is out of the ordinary. It's just doing its thing on each of those clients. This worries me that someone has somehow triggered.Solved9.6KViews2likes18CommentsHow to delete someone from your Dropbox team without deleting their personal Dropbox account?
Hello, I recently granted action to an external person to our business account. By accident, I wanted to kick her out of the general permission, to grant her access only to one folder. When I did that, her whole personal Dropbox account got deleted. Luckily, I could restore it, but now she is a permanent member of our company dropbox. I am wondering what to do when our joint project will end and she won't need to access our documents.251Views1like5CommentsI received a charge for an inactive account
I have not used Dropbox in years and had an INACTIVE account when I received a completely random charge today through PayPal for $119.98. There is NO way to receive ANY support for this issue directly through DropBox without PAYING for another plan. I immediately cancelled the plan that I NEVER agreed to pay for or sign up for through PayPal. I have NO information in my account what this charge is for and since it was through PayPal I cannot even look up the charge and what plan it goes to. This is completely fraudulent business practice. I don't even have access to the service I was FRAUDLENTLY charged for in my account that I had to since reactivate and is at a BASIC plan because I DO NOT USE DROPBOX. I WANT THE CHARGE REVERSED IMMEDIATELY - THIS IS ABSOLUTELY ILLEGAL. YOU SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO CHARGE AN INACTIVE ACCOUNT.444Views1like1CommentSign in with Apple ID shows that the account is disabled
Hello, If I try to sign in/continue with Apple id in browser or iOS app. It shows an error > account is disabled. But when I sign in using the same icloud email, there is no any issue. I made a mistake of choosing "Hide my Email" on my first attempt to sign in and it created the new account which I had to delete. After that I can't use the Continue with Apple feature anymore. Please solve the issue. Thanks6.9KViews1like27CommentsHow can I delete an unwanted extra Dropbox account?
I accidentally created an extra Dropbox account in a second email account. I wish to cancel the extra Dropbox account, but I am afraid in the process I will lose my original Dropbox account that is located in my primary email account. What can I do to insure that does not happen? It happened when I linked a file to the second email address, and I must have impulsively clicked a button to create an account. I tried to delete the new account but received a message to create a password. I didn't do that, thinking I would be digging the hole deeper. I hope this doesn't put a glitch in my original Dropbox account. I am posting this from the original Dropbox account.Solved1.2KViews1like5CommentsCAN YOU PLEASE STOP TAKING MY MONEY. You're making it impossible to cancel....
Why are you making this so difficult?? I'm really miffed at having to post on a community group than get to speak to someone, Is this the GiffGaff of file storage? I have money coming out of my company account to you for last two months, roughly 24 dollars each month. The only thing I've learned is... 1) You make this impossible to cancel 2) Holy moly, the exchange rate to the UK is rubbish right now! 3) For over £20 a month, a responsible vendor would send surely send a "reminder" email unless they were conniving, money-making sausages no? I'm well aware of what Dropbox is, what it does etc, and have been since it started. I generally avoid recurring card payments like the plague. I have noticed a charge coming out my account for the last 2 months. I don't remember ever wanting, needing, or feeling encouraged to sign up to Dropbox for a subscription of any kind other than anything that would be free, especially when I pay Google for my cloud storage, I do not require another, this makes no sense! unless it was misleading? I have tried logging in to find out how to stop it, using 3 different emails it could be under (because I don't remember subscribing and there is no trail my end). I've ended up creating a whole new account by using Google login which it clearly wasn't under, now can't even cancel that one because you've not assigned a password yet and the password email hasn't worked as I can't sign in, FTLOG!!!! Stop taking my money! Please get someone to contact me and get to the bottom of this. Literally fuming, I've never found a website so difficult to achieve/solve these things without human interaction... and I've had to unsubscribe to a lot of porn sites in 20 years!958Views1like1CommentInactive account for many years.
