Hi, I don't understand why I'm having such a big problem downloading a movie from my Dropbox file onto my MacbookPro laptop. The file is only 1.2GB, I'm connected to my router with an ethernet cable, with a fibre-optic connection of 50/50Mbps uncapped and unthrottled. I've tried many times already, but the download is either ridiculously slow or stops altogether. I'm on Dropbox Pro, I have plenty space on my laptop hard drive, and I'm not doing anything else on the laptop at the same time. Am i doing this incorrectly or what? Help help please!Solved96KViews17likes23CommentsI can't open my own files from the Dropbox folder, even after copying content outside the folder.
I have had major headaches with the Dropbox desktop app ever since installing it. In particular, the Dropbox app running in the background has caused my computer and my Internet connection to freeze many times. It even prevented the Windows Task Manager from loading properly so I couldn't kill the Dropbox process--yet when I did after many tries, the computer *immediately* became responsive again. Therefore, I have prohibited any processes having to do with Dropbox from running automatically on startup. I assumed that this would reduce the Dropbox folder to a mere normal Windows folder, i.e. an unshared local folder that has my own local files in it but no access to files shared by others. However, I can no longer open even my own files that were created on this computer and never edited or used by anyone else. Even if I copy them to my desktop, which has nothing to do with Dropbox (obviously), if I try to open them I get an error about Dropbox. Naturally, not only am I concerned with accessing the files now (I assume I can restart the process and open them), but I'm concerned that when I am no longer connected to my employer's Dropbox account (my work with them ends at the end of May), that files that I believe I own will go randomly missing and be irretrievable. I obviously wouldn't be disappointed OR surprised to not be able to open others' synced files at that point, but I'd obviously like to have my own work saved for future reference. What is happening here? Is the Dropbox folder not in fact a "real" folder?Solved77KViews1like10CommentsWhy are some of my Dropbox files not showing in File Explorer (Windows)?
I can view and access files via my phone and via dropbox online, but some files are not visible in Windows Explorer (Win 10). The strange thing is that the files are actually there; If I open excel, for example, and select the file from the recently opened files list, the file opens. If I save the file, it will reappear in Windows Explorer. If I close it again without saving, it does not reappear. This is seemingly random; some files created at the same time appear and some do not. For example file-1 and file-4 show in explorer, but file-2 and file-3 do not. All created at around the same time, on the same computer. I thought at first that this was a sync issue, but the fact that the files can be opened suggest that the files are syncing, but just not being displayed. I have ruled out sharing issues as this is happening with documents that only I have access to and I cannot see files on the computer originally used to create them. I have ruled out file name issues, as there are no special characters, the only difference in file names is usually a version number. I have ruled out a deletion issue as the files can still be opened. I do not have smart sync, this is only a free account. Any suggestions welcome. edit: I am using build 52.4.58 edit2: I have just found a file that I can open via the program (recent files), edit and save, but still doesn't show up in windows explorer.Solved62KViews0likes24Comments"No such file or directory" error?
My associate shared a folder filled with CR2 (camera RAW) files with me. I've added the folder to my Dropbox account, and downloaded to my computer. The folder downloads successfully as a zip file, but when I attempt to open I get an "Unable to expand. Error 2: No such file or directory" error. I can see the files in my Dropbox account just fine, and I can download them individually without issue. There are 400 of them, though, and I don't want to download one at a time. Can anyone help me troubleshoot please? TIA!Solved48KViews0likes10CommentsDropbox options missing in right-click menu on Windows
Hi guys, today, probably after downloading and installing latest stable release a Dropbox, the context menu disappeared from Windows Explorer. Dropbox version: 183.4.7058 Windows 10 version: 22H2 OS build 19045.3448 Unfortunately I am not sure, what version was installed prior to update. Any ideas to solve this? Was reading older posts of same issue and not sure how to proceed? Downgrade to older stable and disable updates for a while? Thanks PetrSolved47KViews5likes86Comments
