A new "feature" has been implemented where if I drop a new file in a DB folder, and then go to click on "Copy Dropbox Link", it simply won't perform the task until the file has finished uploading. Apparently this is to "prevent 404 errors". The "error" page that comes up when you clicked on a link before it had finished uploading was actually a "Uh Oh! File hasn't finished uploading yet". This to me isn't an "error" page and shouldn't be treated as such. It's clear and communicates exactly what it needs to and doesn't warrant a restriction in functionality for the rest of the users. The solution you've silently implemented has caused a monstrous delay in my daily workflow. I work in a fast paced environment, generating new content every hour and sharing it with dozens of people in my team. The fact that I can simply drop files and right-click and "copy link" and THEN carry on with the rest of my tasks while keeping an eye out for the spinning icon in the tray and THEN send the copied link to my recipients, means that I am FLOWING. When I have to do that dozens of times per hour, if you block me from generating a link as soon as I drop it in the DB folder, you're forcing me to having to RETURN back to DB a second time in the process. You've added a whole extra step, and it's absolutely killed my flow.Solved23KViews55likes95CommentsTime Left in Sync has been removed from the desktop app
The dropbox menu bar app has stopped showing the time left in the current sync in the bottom of the window. It shows a seemingly irrelevant progress bar but even hovering over that does not tell me the time left to sync, which I have depended on to let clients know when files will be there. Hovering over only gives me the option to pause syncing. Was this feature removed or is this a bug in the latest update? I'm on Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6Solved41KViews31likes223CommentsHow can I completely disable Smart Sync?
How can I completely, 100%, disable Smart Sync so that Dropbox will always download all of my files? The settings I have found all apply to NEW files and seem to have no impact on old files. What I would like is to set my Dropbox to behave as if Smart Sync does not exist or has ever existed.Solved75KViews30likes66Commentschanging the location of Camera upload folder

We receive tons of file submissions from our business partners daily. However, a large part of the time I spend managing these submissions is spent renaming the files because they're automatically prefixed or suffixed with the Dropbox username of the user that uploaded the file. This causes a lot of unnecessary work and wasted time. I am requesting that you allow us - the paying Dropbox users - the option to determine for ourselves if the Dropbox username is desired . . . or, if the original unaltered filenames are what we'd like to have to work with. Thank you. PS - If I've linked you to this message, it was because you had created or responded to a thread that included the terms File & Request. I know this may not apply to everyone, but if you think that this is a reasonable feature to add (at least, the option to not have the Dropbox user prefixed or suffixed onto the original file name), then please vote for and link other Dropbox members that you think might benefit from this feature, and promote this idea! Why does it take so long to start up dropbox? While it's starting up, other programs are very slow, almost unresponsive. It takes over 20 minutes to show starting/syncing completed. I have 16gb ram, window 7. The start up speed is critical during such time as trying to use the computer to print items for meeting and it freezes up because dropbox is starting and you cannot even stop it from starting, of course there's the option of exiting.Solved41KViews21likes40CommentsCan we have the "Sync Next" option for folders too?
It will make my life so much easier if I could choose what folder should be sync first, or at least have the option to make a file sync next, I dont know why this option disappeared.. Im a photographer and I work with a lot of photos. every time Im editing the dropbox takes forever to upload my original unedited photos first before the photos I've already edit. its time consuming and quite annoying.18KViews18likes9CommentsDropbox is laughably slow. Arguably the worst file-sharing client.
What year is it? Did the Internet just come out? Are we still in the infancy of sharing files quickly and efficiently? Dropbox takes (literally) 21 hours to upload 7 small movie clips to a shared folder. How can you insult someone by asking them to upgrade on a service that is so terrible? I would never pay money to receive the service you provide. It is literally quicker for me to fly to my client in San Francisco, hand deliver them the files, and then fly home to Toronto. I could probably stay for a meal before I flew home, and when I got home, Dropbox would still be uploading the same 7 files. If your company does ONE thing, maybe you should try to do that ONE thing well. Your company is a joke and the service you provide is insulting.Solved13KViews18likes5Comments
