917 TopicsWebsite times out during an upload on multiple browsers
Using Windows 11. Started a trial account about a week ago as looking for a reliable cloud provider. Uploaded several large files 5-10gb through the website and it worked fine (in total have maybe 100gb of files uploaded of the 2tb with the premium trial subscription). Then I tried to load a file yesterday and after selecting the file there's a delay for the black status box to even appear in the bottom right of the screen and when it does it just sits there, stuck on the initial screen. Eventually it times out and the "Wait" or "Leave Page" box appears. Have tried this at least 10-15 times with Chrome. Have tried Firefox, Edge, etc. Same thing. I tried to chat with a human at least 10 times and every time it says it's transferring to an agent it just sits there and nothing happens (waiting as long as 30 minutes). Sent two emails through the appropriate Help sections and nobody responds. Is this company serious?44Views0likes2CommentsI only want to manually back up static folders to Dropbox, without the app syncing all the time.
Device: Macbook Air Operating System/Browser (if using the web): Sonoma 14.6.1 Syncing Status: paused indefinitely Question or Issue: I want to use Dropbox as a backup for folders, manually uploaded by me intermittently. I do not want it to be syncing with my computer. When I installed the app it began trying to sync with folders on the computer, which is not what I want. But when I tried to upload via the chrome browser it kept failing for large folders. (This is rather absurd. If the browser version can't handle it large folders then the app should be able to.) I just want to be able to back up (e.g.) my Documents folder or some subset of it, from time to time, with a date on it, as a static backup. I don't want to work from dropbox, I don't want it to be syncing constantly with my computer. How do I do this? I don't need "why are you doing this, why not just sync?" I don't want to. I don't trust such syncs. I don't want a problem with dropbox to possibly propagate downward into my local files. (You can say this is unlikely -- I don't care, I want it impossible.) Thanks.30Views0likes1CommentCan't choose multiple files
Device Lenovo, iPad pro Operating System/Browser (if using the web) (Windows 11, Question or Issue Dropbox has become my favorite cloud storage. I love it. I love how easy it is to find files. But... no matter what I do, I have watched tons of videos, looked in discussion forums, etc.. I CANNOT SELECT MULTIPLE FILES. It is seriously slowing down my work. I have tried using my windows computer and my ipad, and I can't do it. If someone has any ideas, I am open. I have tried shift, command, Control... nothing works. I fell asleep one night and accidentally clicked two files, but it was a complete accident. I can use any help.25Views0likes1CommentI'm using the website to upload content. I have run out of space on iPhone due to excessive photos. I want to move my photos to dropbox. Photos are on iCloud. What steps do I take to move the photos from my iCloud account to my dropbox account? Both are on the cloud. The iCloud photos are accessible on my macbook. I tried dragging and dropping and that didn’t work. I don’t have the dropbox app on macbook. Not sure I have the space for it. Thank you! I use Dropbox on my computer to backup my work files which include my 3D renders that consist in a png sequence (one image per frame at 30 or 60fps), so I have thousands of png images related to renders but dropbox automatically adds them to the camera uploads in my phone app which is extremely annoying because I need to scroll down thousands of images to see my actual photos... if I delete them it deletes my render backup as well, it does the same thing for textures, which makes my photo roll unusable.217Views0likes8CommentsDropbox still incredibly slow on Verizon Fios
For the last ten years, as described in Really Slow Upload...only Dropbox | The Dropbox Community and https://www.reddit.com/r/dropbox/comments/6n74lu/dropbox_slow_on_fios_gigabit_connection/ Dropbox has been incredibly slow on Fios - as in, less than 5 Mbps. If I simply set a SOCKS5 proxy in the Dropbox preferences so my connection goes through some other host instead of directly to Dropbox - then I get 100+ Mbps. This is not about the bandwidth limit setting. If I take my computer to a neighbor's house that is on Xfinity, it works fine. If I stay at home, but route the connection using SOCKS5 through someone else's non-Fios host first, it works fine. The problem is only if the connection is direct via Fios. This problem has been going on for more than a decade, for a majority of people on Fios, at least in the northeast US. How can this get fixed? There is clearly a peering issue somewhere.105Views0likes9CommentsBest way to collect client uploads in one Dropbox folder and sort by client and date
I’m looking for some guidance on the best way to set up a streamlined upload flow for multiple clients. Goal I’d like to have a single upload point (for example, one shared link or form) that allows multiple clients to upload files without logging in. Ideally, when they upload: They provide their email address or name Dropbox automatically routes those files into a folder structure like: Client Name (or email) → Submission date → Uploaded files So, over time I’d end up with something like /Client A/email@clienta.com/2025-11-14/…files /Client B/email@clientb.com/2025-11-20/…files etc. Questions Is there a native Dropbox feature (e.g. File Requests or similar) that can: accept uploads from multiple people via one URL, and also capture who uploaded what in a way that could be used to organise files per client? If not fully possible natively, what’s the best-practice approach people have used? Multiple File Requests? Dropbox + a form tool (Typeform, Jotform, etc.) + Zapier/Make to create folders and move files based on email address? Any recommended automations / templates that already do this? I’m comfortable using third-party automation tools if needed, but I’d love to understand what’s realistically achievable within Dropbox first, and what the most robust setup would be.97Views0likes3CommentsCan't upload large video from iphone as I'm getting an error
My pictures on my iphone are automatically uploading to dropbox, but my videos aren't even though I have "upload videos" turned on. I've successfully uploaded smaller videos about 2 min 15 sec, but when I try to upload a 3.5 min video, it tells me "Can't upload file. There was a problem uploading [file name]. Please try again." I'm connected to wifi. Is there any other way for me to get it from my phone to dropbox on my computer?138Views0likes6Comments
