Admin backup

Hi

We have a business account with several Tb of data, and as an Admin on our account I have been asked to provide a download/backup of all folders and files to an external drive (this is something we are going to do annually).  As an Admin can I do this for all folders or only the ones that are currently shared with me?

Thanks

Hey AndrewW1,thanks for clarifying that for us.

In order to download all the content of your team, you'll need to make sure you have access to the folders via the content tab. Once this is done, you can download all of your files through your homepage

After you've downloaded (and backed up) your content, you can remove your access from the folders you don't need to be a member of.

    I hope this helps!

    Welcome aboard the Community, AndrewW1!

If you’re a team admin on this Business team, you should be able to see all team content via your Admin Console > Content tab, and download/back up your folders from there.

If you need something else though, don’t hesitate to ping me.

    Hi Nancy,

    Thank you for your reply.

Where abouts on the Contents page do I go to be able to back up the file contents?  I tried a basic copy/paste, but when I select a folder that I am not a member of and copy/paste it to another drive it just copies the link, not the content.

I have attached a screen shot of what I see on that page.

    All help greatly appreciated.

Hi AndrewW1, what options do you get when you click on the ellipsis on the right for one of the folders?

Are you not able to select all folders by clicking the checkbox next to 'Name'?

    Hi Jay,

When I click on the 3 dots it takes me to the manage screen and just gives me the option of adding new members to view the folder.  When I select a folder the 3 dots disappear and there is nothing else/extra to select anywhere!  This happens the same whether I am a member of the shared folder or not.

It is confusing as I would have expected something to be available.

Could you attach a screenshot showing the exact options you get, as there should be an option to download the folder?

    Hi Jay,

    Screenshots as requested.

Admin console showing what I have available without a folder being selected

Just the Manage option from the 3 dots.

    With a folder selected

I don't get the option to do anything with it!

This applies to folders that I am a member of as well as the ones that I am not.

I just want to back up all of the companies Dropbox folders to an external hard drive.

    Hi Jay,

I think we are on the new Team structure.  Does that make it an issue?

Thanks Walter that is what I suspected I would have to do, which is a bit of a pain, but thought I would reach out to the community in case there was an easier option.

    Many thanks
