Decryption fails running iOS 14.2
Just updated iPhone and iPad to iOS 14.2. Now, trying to open an encrypted file, it tell me "Decryption Failed. Null" If I open with Excel, it works fine. Anyone else having this issue?
I also have success opening an encrypted file within Dropbox after updated 14.4 IOS update. Thanks for everyone's help and input.

- Nealwald6 years agoHelpful | Level 7Please take the time to look at this entire thread. This is an iOS 14 (14.3 and below) issue not related to Dropbox. It impacts all MS office password protected files. It appears Apple has no reason to fix this. If you read the full thread you will find simple workaround to open protected files. The simplest solution is to open the file in the appropriate MS app or the iOS ms office app. Either will open your file.

Thanks. I figured out that workaround as well, but it's not particularly convenient. One would hope that Dropbox would eventually fix the problem, since there are probably thousands of people who have encountered it and they're not all likely to run across this dialogue.

same problem, I don't yet see a fix in the replies?
- Jonathan F.36 years agoHelpful | Level 6The fix is to open the file with the application (e.g., Word for iOS, Excel for iOS). The password works then. This is not an elegant solution, and hopefully DropBox will update their software to be compatible with the latest Apple operating system.
- Nealwald6 years agoHelpful | Level 7Jonathan, this is not a Dropbox issue. It is impacting multiple s as apps including Microsoft’s one drive. It appears t hat Apple has changed the way these files steer handled and frankly in don’t believe Tony want to change it. After conversations with Apple support this may now be considered normal behavior. This certainly does not appear to be in the control of third party apps or developers. Maybe if enough people complain to Apple they might return to previous functionality, but I would not hold my breath.

I continue to have this issue with iOS 14.2 - even after ensuring that all apps are up to date. Anyone have any current information on this?
- Deacon Art6 years agoHelpful | Level 5This problem has been going on for weeks. Posts on this forum go unanswered by Dropbox as if nothing is wrong. Disgusting!
