I can't view Excel and Word files on my Android mobile app when offline.
When I am offline, I can read all my files in a directory with the option to read offline, but not the .xlx and .docx documents. How do I fix that?
The Support team found the problem. I simply removed in the option Application default of Dropbox the Excel application.

Hey Marcel3, sorry to see that you're having this issue.
Let's see what we can find out about this.
Where are you having this issue? Is it with the local Dropbox folder on your computer or the mobile app?
In either case, what is your OS version and Dropbox app version?
Also, what exactly do you see when you're trying to view the files? Are you getting any error messages?
Let me know and we'll go from there.

I was on a cruise ship. To read the file I had to copy the Excel file in a directory outside of Dropbox and then I could read it.

Thanks for the additional info, Marcel.
Can you let me know which Android version and which Dropbox app version you're using?
If you could also send me a screenshot of the error that you're getting, I'd really appreciate it.

Hey Marcel3, let me also jump in here!
Can you try marking the files you're having an issue with as available online, and then available offline again?
Also what is the size of the files that you are trying to open?
Please send us a screenshot of your device’s storage clearly showing the amount of free space that you have on it, and of the “Offline files” view in the Dropbox app.

Changed 2025Crosiere.xlsx to offline and on. Does not change anything.
My file 2025Crosiere.xlsx is 27KB.All Excel files in Dropbox cannot be read if I am offline.
Storage in my phone:
Files in my Dropbox in a directory that I can read offline:
I have more than one directory that has the option to be read offline. I can read all the files in those directory when offline, except .xlsx and .docx files.

Hope it's OK to jump in, Marcel3. To clarify, are you receiving the error you mentioned above when trying to preview the files on the Dropbox mobile app, or when trying to open them on your Microsoft mobile app instead (without downloading them locally first)?

The file is already in my phone. I can take it and make a copy of it to another directory on my phone, outside of Dropbox. And from there I can open the file on my phone.
