When I highlight text in a Paper document in my browser and then export it to MS Word, the highlighting gets lost. Bold, italics, underlined instead are all working as expected and are retained. I tried a few tips, but none of them worked: - copying text from the browser and pasting into the Word doc directly - using incognito mode - viewing the Word document online or in the desktop app makes no difference either - exporting to pdf first and then converting to Word doc (pdf has highlights but they get misplaced when converting to Word) Devices: Macbook Air (M4), Sequoia 26.2, tried both on Firefox(146.0.1) and Safari(Version 26.2 (21623.1.14.11.9)). Dropbox Version is 239.3.8100 but as I use the browser it might not matter. I am synced to open Dropbox documents in the online-only mode on my Surface Pro since it doesnt have a ton of hard drive memory. That has worked well for several years. Recently, my Surface Pro has been unable to open Word documents stored stored in Dropbox. Instead, I get the "Unspecified Error" message. I can open pdf files stored in Dropbox without a problem. What changed? How do I resolve this? I have updated my Windows and Dropbox apps. Thanks.Solved12KViews2likes7CommentsWOPI Version of .xlsm files opening in Desktop App. Why is this happening?
Hello, With zero support from Dropbox Advanced support, I'm hoping as a community anyone can provide some guidance. I have a user in my organization who in the desktop app cannot open and edit xlsm files, no one else in our organization has this issue. According to ChatGPT, the file(s) and not corrupted and it is not a Microsoft issue. All xlsm files for this user are offline files. I employed autoruns and unchecked some Dropbox extensions to force open xlsm files as 'local' files without Dropbox trying to open the WOPI version, which is unusable. We have thousands xlsm files we use daily, and cannot nor should have to copy each file over to this users' desktop and copy them back to the desktop app as that is a huge waste of time. I'm confused why he is the only user that is impacted this way and hoping someone can provide some solutions so this user can use xlsm files in the desktop just like the rest of us. Thank you in advanced.Solved2KViews0likes15Comments"File is stored in an incompatible server location" error when opening Office files on Android

Hi - I'm hoping someone can help me. We've been using dropbox for a while and it's been going swimmingly, but in the recent few months there has been a change. When I open an excel document it used to open in 'Excel for the web' and was easily editable, but recently it's stopped loading properly. I'm trying to open it using Safari browser (my friend who is using Microsoft software isn't having the same issue), and now instead of the file loading it looks like this, but never loads: Can anyone help? I've restarted my computer and installed any updates. Many thanks.1.8KViews0likes22CommentsI can't always open my MS Word files via the desktop app and I receive an error.
I used to double-click on any Word Docx when stored in DropBox and it would open, but lately, it won't open and an error message pops up... it is not consistent. Sometimes it opens and sometimes it does not. The error message says it is a MS Word problem, but when I spoke to MS, they said it is a DropBox problem since I have no problem working on Word files if they are out of DropBox. As a workaround - I can drag a file outside of DropBox and then it would open.89Views0likes1CommentWhen opening a Word doc on the web, its original font appears in bold.
My office shares and edits unlinked docs and I'm then responsible for accepting the edits and uploading the final doc to Dropbox. Recently, I've been unable to upload the doc with it keeping its formatting and fonts. It will be formatted correctly on my OS desktop but when I save it and upload it, the fonts in the preview are bold. When I then go to open it in word for the web, I get this error: If I choose to open it in reader view, it reverts back to the correct formatting. I have checked and the font is in my font book and have no clue what could be causing this. formatting on my desktop app Formatting after uploading and opening in preview Formatting after opening as read only in word for web Thanks in advance for any guidance.202Views0likes5CommentsHow to prevent users from downloading my Excel sheet?
I would like to share a form, an Excel Sheet, with other users. But due to simple security topics an to safe "my work" (data and calculations) from black-copy I don´t want them to doanload it on their workspace, but to use it directly within dropbox for PC. So other users should be allowed to "write", but not to doaonload - Any Idea, if this is possible an how I can manage this in dropbox?131Views0likes2Comments
