How are these files shared with you? Is it through a shared link, shared folder, or file transfer?
Since you've tried some troubleshooting steps already like switching between different browsers, and networks let's try something different. You mentioned that you've started a trial for a Dropbox subscription. Do you still use it?
If that's the case, can you try saving the file to your Dropbox account first, and then see if you can download it from there?
