SELECTING MULTIPLE STARRED FILES
Hi, Can anyone help with a shortcut to selecting multiple starred files?
I have over 300 starred photo files I'm trying to download.
There's got to be a better way than clicking all those fil...

Hi porchbaby, and welcome aboard the Community!
What you can do is go to your Photos page on www.dropbox.com and then, click on the Starred column there; all of your starred photos should appear.
If you have many images for each year, you can also select the āYearā option from the menu, and click on the small checkboxes above each yearās photos. That should select all of them and you can then, download them in bulk.
I hope that makes sense, but Iām here if you need to ask me something.

3 years agoHey Maxime! Can you please tap on the icon again, and send me a screenshot of the filters youāve selected? Iād like to gather as much info as possible, and see if thereās something else we can try.

Hey Nancy,
here it is!
āAs you can see, all the photos do have as "star", this is the "Starred/Favoris" filter I used.
Best regards,

Thanks for that, Maxime!
As the next step, I'd like you to clear your Dropbox app's cache, and also reinstall it on your mobile device.
Does that seem to make a difference when viewing your starred items after that?

Nancy,
the problem is not on my mobile app - where I can see all the starred files as you can see.
The problem is on the WebPage where I do not see any of those starred files.
Here, you can see that there are somes files with a star:
Same from my mobile app, with the filter applied, here are all the starred files:
However, if, in the "Folder" section of Dropbox on a webpage, I select "Favoris/Starred' button, the I do not se any files:
But for sure there are some as you can see on the previous screenshots.
Does that make sense?Best regards,
Maxime

Thanks Maxime Coevoet for clarifying!
If you login through a different browser or a private browsing window, do you get the same behavior on our website?
- Maxime Coevoet3 years agoHelpful | Level 5
Same behavior through different browser, on different OS ...
Even after reset of the cache memory ...
So my question about the amount of "starred files" ...
And due to the last option that have been developped:
"Favoris/Starred" does not show the oldest starred ones ...
Many thanks,
Maxime

Thanks for checking, Maxime!
There's really no limit on how many starred items you can have.
If you simply go to your "all files" page and click on the "starred" option from there (without navigating to a specific folder), can you see any results?
Also, what's your preferred browser and which version are you using?

Hi Hannah,
I really do not understand. Working with Chrome v108 and more.
I am engineer in the IT, having developped websites and I really do not explain the behavior I see ...
It seems that "older starred files" are not recognised on the Dropbox webplatorm, compare than on the mobile app. However, for "newer starred files", there is no problem ...
I can imagine a different way to identify/filter "starred" files on Dropbox side since a certain version.
Does that make sens?
Best regards
Maxime

Thanks for the additional info here, Maxime.
After looking a bit further into this, we've confirmed that currently we only retrieve a maximum of 2000 starred files, by order of last starred.
So, it is possible that you won't see starred files if they were starred a long time ago and have more than 2000 files starred.
I hope this clarifies things.

Hi Hannah,
really I thank you a lot to confirm this limit of 2000 starred files to be retreived, by order of last starred.
I understand this is within the "photo" tool.
But once in a specific folder, the amount of files is limited, so the limit of 2000 starred files as well. Why do I get nothing as a result of starred files?
Many thanks,
Maxime

If you're not seeing any results within a specific folder, we might need to take a further look into this, to be honest.
Can we send you an email to investigate further?

Dear Hannah,
of course you can send me an email.
I suppose you have it, correct?
Many thanks!

Dear Support, Hannah,
are there any updates in the amount files limited to 2000 starred files?
It it so painfull for us to not be able to retreive our old starred photos ...
Many thanks in advance for your attention,
Maxime
