Since updating to Mac OS 15.2 files and folders do not appear on my desktop
For the past few months I have been using dropbox backup to backup my desktop files and folders.
Everything has been working fine until this morning when i updated my OS to Sequoia 15.2
Now my files and folders do not appear on my desktop, although the Desktop folder still seems to be syncing and can be accessed from the shortcuts in the sidebar in Finder. If i drag and drop a file to my desktop it disappears, but can then be found in the desktop folder in finder.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

HI there Flavours - sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
Could you clarify the exact version and status of the Dropbox desktop app as shown in your menu bar?
A screenshot of what's troubling you would also help!

Hi Walter
Thanks for the reply.
The Dropbox version is 213.4.4597
And the status of the desktop app says Everything is up to date
Here is a link to a screenshot of the desktop app status:

Could you try copying and pasting your screenshot in your reply box instead of sending the link Flavours?
If possible, please send us another couple of screenshots showing the location on your computer you'd expect to see the files as well.

WalterThanks for your help, ive actually just discovered the issue, and it was nothing to do with dropbox at all!
In System Settings / Destop & Dock there is a section titled Desktop & Stage Manager.
I had to tick the box next to Show Items - On Desktop - designfish12 months agoNew member | Level 2
I have similar problems with the most recent Dropbox desktop app and OS 15.2.
- I have an M3 16" Powerbook (late 2023)
- I downloaded and re-installed the newest Dropbox app yesterday (12-20-24)
- Yes, it has all the necessary permissions in the system
- Problem I: The desktop Dropbox icon is not appearing in the top finder bar (that lets you do prefs/go to the website). And I did all the "normal" fixes/troubleshooting that usually restores it.
- Problem II: In my desktop folders that reside on my laptop, the actual process of switching between "make available offline" and "online only" seems like it is working with no problem; however,
- There is no indication of any process when it's happening no dot that indicates it's on the drive, no timer showing process/download status, etc.
- Problem III: This seems related to Problem II above - when I delete a folder from the desktop App, it goes away, then a few moments later reappears intact.
- Problem IV: Some folders on the desktop app show nothing inside of them 0 files; however, when I go to the browser, they are all there, showing up, and fine/not corrupt.
- Problem V: Last night, I deleted the vault on the browser side; however, it is still showing up on the desktop folder side and when I try to delete it manually this message pops up: "Can't Delete Vault: This is a Dropbox feature, so you can’t delete it."
All of these points (IMO) to the fact that whatever was quasi-living on my drive is quasi-working, but the entire desktop world is not connected to the actual cloud properly.
I can't seem to attach or c/p the screenshot of the desktop app but here's the info
