Almost all of my files in my folder are gone now
Hello! Today for the first time there was a problem with deleted files, which I can't fix. After downloading a file from Dropbox on my iPhone, I wanted to delete it. As always, I used the "delete" option on it, but I noticed that instead of a single file, the entire folder had disappeared. I immediately went to the Recover Files option and restored the entire folder. The problem is that only a few files (232 MB) were restored, while most of the 3 GB disappeared! They are not in the files to restore and my Dropbox shows 4.3 GB instead of the previous 7 GB. Help, what to do?
Hey cachaito let me also jump in here!
Have you checked your deleted files page too?
Also, I'd love to have a visual of your events page, and what you see on your end in order for me to be able to assist further.
Thanks!

Hi cachaito, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Do you see any of the missing files on the events page?
This will help me to assist further!

Hi Jay, thanks for your reply. The thing is that the given event on the Events Page shows "only" 38 deleted files (!)

If the events page shows only that number of files deleted, that the Dropbox site didn't have those files on the site.
Is it possible that the files didn't sync to the Dropbox site originally?

I have been using Dropbox for years and have collected very important video clips for me. There is no way there are only 38 files. This morning on my desktop and iPhone app Dropbox showed almost full storage used (7.6 GB).

Hi Megan! Actually, thanks to you I figured out what happened! I went back to the Deleted Files page to take a screenshot for you and noticed one thing. I've marked it in red in attached file. Next to the one deleted file in the history there are 499 more deleted files! I'm restoring them now. I'm glad Dropbox is still reliable!

Hi T_theresa_A! I have to say that despite a few bugs (such as randomly overwriting files with the same name despite selecting the "do not overwrite" option, or the rare, but it happened to me the third time when deleting a single file deleted my entire folder), Dropbox is a reliable and fast service that I enjoy using every day. It allows me to easily upload video files that I edit on my computer and post on Instagram on my phone.
