Can I use an automation for daily file renaming?
I have daily files shared with me and i'd like to automate the following process if possible....
Copy files from the shared folder to a private folder
Rename files (example below)
xxx.mp3 ----> xxx - xxx.mp3
Thats it
Thanks in advance for any replies

Yes, there is an option in the automation settings to rename files if they are added to a specific folder. You can use the Keyword option to add XXX before the filename, since it isn't possible to add dashes.

its from a shared folder where i can only copy from (view)
the other option is, if I copy the files over to the new folder myself can we automate the file renaming process?
thanks

Does the file have to be copied, or can it be physically moved to a different folder from the shared folder?
Currently, the automation feature only moves files, and doesn't copy them.

the only difference is the file name has to have space dash space ( - ) for my system to use the file, I change it manually at present
and it would help if it copied the file from the shared folder to a different folder, then processed the file name change
the files will remain the same names daily, yes .mp3

Hi DJLazyB, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Are all the files going to be an MP3 format?
Will the renamed extra part you mentioned (the xxx -) be the same for all files, or different depending on your workflow?
This will help me to assist further!
