Deleted files and folders
Hi,
When I open my laptop I saw that my almost all folders and files disappeared. Alsow my laptop screen was changed - all icons disappeared too. I founf files explorer and ... there were nothing. It looks like someone deleted my all files and folders.
But I red that I can restore my data from 30 days on dropbox. I tried to do this. When I choose my deleted files on dropbox I can see only few of them. There is a possible to choose the date. But when I put e.g. 1st JAN 2022 there was nothing of my files or folders.
What is going on?
OR
How can I restore my data on dropbox?
PS
Even today's morning I was warking on some files from dropbox, which disappeared on few aors later. ?!?
HELP
Hi,
My laptop had ransomware. All my files and profile was deleted within 2 minutes.
At beginning I could not restore the data from dropbox. There werent any files in DELETED FILES. But when I click ALL FILES (there was'nt almost anything) and then I choosed "..." and then click "SHOW DELETED FILES" I finally could see my all files. Then I only clicked every file/folder and restore.
But on the video e.g. on YT was completly different view - from few years; and it was frustrating.

Hi bartoszdolinkiewicz, have you fixed this problem, something very similar happened to me at work, I could even see how one of my files just disappeared in front of my eyes, and then I could no longer have access to the folder where the documents where archived.
There's no way to call this company or communicate with someone from the support team, it seems that this company does not have such a department for customers.
Any help would be highly appreciated

Hi Decor gorup, from what you were describing, it sounds like another user has deleted a file or removed you from a shared folder. Could this be the case?
Do you see any recent events related to the missing file?
Regarding phone support, currently, we only provide incoming phone support for team admins of Dropbox Business subscriptions.

Ok, let me start by making it clear that I've done EVERY troubleshooting solution available and NOTHING has fixed this issue with DROPBOX. I believe this is an issue with DROPBOX itself and apparently there is nobody who is in charge of DROPBOX that is willing to help people who use this service. My issue is that my dropbox claims I'm out of storage space but I see no files in my account except for a few strange files I never added myself nor had I ever seen before. I just recently signed up with DROPBOX and I had not added enough files or photos to fill up my entire dropbox already for sure! This is very disturbing, agrivating and just extremely wrong for DROPBOX to erase everything you DID upload to it and replace it with a bunch of junk you've never seen before and do not want! The photos I uploaded can not be replaced! They were of my Grandfather who passed away and my children. So someone needs to be held responsible for this ERROR caused by DROPBOX that is taking so much away from people who trusted this service to keep their files safe because obviously that was never their intention! I will write to whomever I have to about the horrible service I have encountered while using DROPBOX until this is fixed so nobody else has to endure the unimaginable loss that I have and I'm sure I'm not the only one who has suffered by trusting in DROPBOX! I will do my best to get back what has been taken from me by DROPBOX and whether or not they return what was taken I will be ending my DROPBOX service because they have shown that they are untrustworthy and unreliable! My advice to anyone thinking about signing up for DROPBOX is DO NOT DO IT UNLESS YOU DON'T MIND LOSING EVERYTHING YOU UPLOAD TO YOUR ACCOUNT!! GO SOMEWHERE THAT WON'T REMOVE YOUR FILES WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE OR PERMISSION!! Oh and just for the record I had extra security for my DROPBOX and changed my password often so security should not have been an issue!

Check your Backups page. Dropbox doesn't (and can't) add files to your account on its own. If you're seeing files in your account, then you've either added them yourself, you're a member of a shared folder with someone, or you've chosen to use the backup feature and Dropbox is backing up your computer or an external drive. If you've recently removed files to free up space, give it time to recognize that you've free up space. Your space usage should update in a few hours.
This is very disturbing, agrivating and just extremely wrong for DROPBOX to erase everything you DID upload to it and replace it with a bunch of junk you've never seen before and do not want!Dropbox simply cannot do that. It's not possible. Dropbox doesn't delete your files, even when you're over your storage quota. It's simple not capable of doing so. And it certainly can't add files to your account without your consent, and those files would only be your own or those you've been invited to share.
The photos I uploaded can not be replaced! As stated, Dropbox can't delete your files without being told to do so. Check your Deleted Files page to see if they can be recovered. Also, check your Events page to see what happened. Any file activity in your account will be listed on that page.
GO SOMEWHERE THAT WON'T REMOVE YOUR FILES WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE OR PERMISSION!!Again, to be clear, Dropbox is not capable of deleting your files like that. It's just not possible. The only time files are removed is if your account is left idle for more than a year, then your entire account is deleted due to inactivity. Dropbox cannot simply delete files from your account.
