deleting uneeded files
I can access files via my mobile app in order to delete them. I cannot do this on the desktop application.

Thanks for posting here, Danny18!
If you wish to delete files via the desktop app, you can open the local Dropbox folder on your computer, and delete your files/folders like you would normally do on your device.
The changes you make should sync to your web account and to your mobile app, and the files will get removed from there, too.
Are you having any issues in particular if you do this?
Let me know how this goes.

Hi 718Rose1940, let's jump right into this!
In regards to the space being used in your Dropbox account, have you actually checked your Backups page to check if you've enabled this feature?
Could you check, and let me know what you find? Thanks a bunch!

When I open the folder on my desktop the files that I see on my mobile app are not listed. Is it possible that I am logged into a different account on my desktop?

I uninstalled/reinstalled the desktop app. The app reports that I have used 2.3Gb out of 2.7Gb. I clicked on the video folder...nothing there. I clivked on the photos folder and saw a very quick screen with what looked like a screen undergoing population. All I saw was the outline of pics. Then I got a caricature of a sleeping dog on a pillow.

Can you send me a screenshot of what you see when accessing your local Dropbox folder, Danny18?
Is the storage space you mention the same as the one reported here?

Thank you for your help,
In answer to your question, I do not know if the storage space that is in screenshot is the space that the app is looking at. I'm wondering if I have a separate account. If so, how do I point the app to the account that I am using?

Thanks for the screenshot!
You can check which email address is linked to your desktop app with these steps.
If the email address you see there is different to this one, you can sign out and back in to the app with the correct account/email address like this.

Thank you for your help. Sorted now.
