Multiple notifications on desktop app asking me if I want to delete files
Last week my main PC W10, named "Qanto", went crazy making it impossible to use.
I was building a new PC. Again W10.
In an urgent move, I started to configure it as the New Main PC. Name "TwenyFour" or T24 for friends :-D.
While I was here, being forced to access many useful settings stored in "PC/settings BKP" under Dropbox, I also looked around on the PC folder where many Install.Dirs are also hosted.
I used this BKP technique on an SD stick for many years, but having Dropbox maintaining that storage updated is much better.

Perusing all Dropbox Folders to manage software, and much more ... I've found a lot of old parts saved there not usable anymore.
That's a good opportunity to make some order and do some cleaning.
Every time I reboot the T24, the notification "do you want to delete XYZ?" appears and asks for an Ok, I give "OK", then another appears, etc, etc, etc may be twenty times :-( ...
I've read another 6-year-old thread where reasons were explained, but I found it quite intrusive to insert that ... and stupid not being present in the "notification options setting".
No solution appeared so far in that thread,
and a search on the forum did not give me interesting results.
ANY HELP to block those things?
(It never appeared on my old device, it's still not appearing on the W11 laptop )
6 years .. Thread reference:

Hey Alain Church, thanks so much for the screenshots!
So, just to sum it up here: in the first couple of screenshots it seems you're deleting the folder "Screen Clip" and then when you reboot, you get the second screen with the delete message. Are those files related to the "Screen Clip" folder by any chance?
Do you reboot the device, or the app? If so, how do you reboot it?
Also can you try uninstalling the app, and then reinstalling it to see if the behavior remains the same after that?

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Alain Church.
Can you let us know which version of the Dropbox app you're using?
You can see that, along with the sync status of the app, by hovering over the Dropbox icon in your system tray.
Also, are the file names in the notifications you're getting actual file names from within your Dropbox folder?
If you quit and then restart the app, does the issue persist?
Keep me posted.

Hello Hannah.
Thanks for answering me.
I'm not at home and answering on cellphone [that has also Dropbox installed and in sync]
A) As the Dropbox was downloaded and installed Saturday, I suppose this is the last version.
B) All the files are in Dropbox "space". That means that all the Pcs have the same Dropbox folder in one of their disk... and it's fully sync. Nothing Hidden. All of them are completely managed by Dropbox. I intend them as twins images of a copy of the Cloud's Dropbox Space for this account.
C) All Files and Folders that have been notified on T24... have been managed by the same Pc "T24" !!! 🫣
'Note > at the moment only the W11 Laptop can access the Dropbox repository and was reinstalled around FOUR weeks ago, it was missing suns {no reason given} and restarted sync perfectly only after a reboot. Reinstalling it after an Uninstall solved that issue.
Note 2 > that Laptop has only ONE specific use: as a Dropbox hub to manage my connecting Nikon cameras and look for new shots to uploads in Dropbox repository.
C) That happens when the W10 start after a reboot. TELL ME how may I ... Stop, Pause... Or do anything as suggested in other threads?
C2) Do I intend to manage, [pausing, stopping or whatever] an App that is still working as intended on other devices?
THE ANSWER IS NO !

Hey Alain Church, let me jump in here too!
I definitely see where you're coming from, and it is far from ideal, but I'd like for us to see what we can do about that.
I'd love to have a visual of what you see on your end.
Once you're back home, and have access to your laptop, could you attach some screenshots of the behavior, please?

Screenshots)
That's the most difficult part to do.
Explaining: I need to make some change into the repository. Then I need to reboot, and hope the notifications will appear when W10 has completed its boot job.
Let see what I can do this evening !

Strange things happens 🤷
I deleted that folderand rebooted ... just to obtain something else !!

Not happy with that .... > I did a second stunt....
I cleaned the "Apps" directory of old folders and links
Rebooted ... and this is what I obtained 😇And I also got a new notification in the screen corner :-D
( never saw that before ) - Alain Church8 months agoCollaborator | Level 8
Oh, yes.
The notifications appears sround 17-22 seconds after the last startup program has been launched.
( No idea why )

A) Yes. In the first stint, I deleted the folder you named.
The.NEF file notified is a raw image from a Nikon photo that was first in the "camera upload" and then moved to the main folder "Camera", which is five up from the opened folder "PC." no idea when I may have deleted it.
Usually, I delete the files after bulk-renaming them in "C. Upl." and only then moving them to the designated folder. I open the destination folder and rate all the images to have a value choice, before PostProcessing some of them only. OOF pics are deleted in a couple = xxxz.NEF + xxxz.JPG.B) When I mention "Reboot" I mean turn OFF and turn ON the main hardware.
Otherwise, I would say "restart" the program, or in case, "Uninstall and reinstall"
C) Dropbox has already been reinstalled twice, due to an issue while installing MS WebView2.dll for image &text preview in File Explorer.
No problem if I have to reinstall it once again. It will take 15 minutes, and I will do it tomorrow. ( it's now 01:30 :-) )
( That happens to demonstrate when Microsoft is able to produce a failure with its own software )
