My Dropbox plan downgraded from 2TB to 2GB. My uploaded files are 300GB, and I understand that new file uploads are impossible, but existing files won't be deleted. Instead,I'm getting a notification that files may be deleted. Even if my plan is lower, won't the files in shared folders provided by others be deleted?Solved81Views0likes4CommentsNotify us when we're removed from a shared folder, and allow us to retrieve our files.
Dear All, I would like to suggest that when an owner removes a member from a shared folder - we get a notification of deletion. It is important to track this as sometimes we don't even realise when we are removed from a shared folder. this can happen for various reasons (for instance, migration to other systems, changing data policies). additionally, it would be good if some members (who had access and contributed to the folders by uploading files) could be given the chance to retrieve at least the files that they have uploaded to the folders. this would also help with ownership and prevent data loss. Another idea is to possibly allow (long-standing) members who have been part of shared folder for, say, more than 3 years - to retrieve the folder if needed, when this is deleted. Just some ideas.163Views2likes2CommentsMultiple notifications on desktop app asking me if I want to delete files
Last week my main PC W10, named "Qanto", went crazy making it impossible to use. I was building a new PC. Again W10. In an urgent move, I started to configure it as the New Main PC. Name "TwenyFour" or T24 for friends :-D. While I was here, being forced to access many useful settings stored in "PC/settings BKP" under Dropbox, I also looked around on the PC folder where many Install.Dirs are also hosted. I used this BKP technique on an SD stick for many years, but having Dropbox maintaining that storage updated is much better. _____________________________ Perusing all Dropbox Folders to manage software, and much more ... I've found a lot of old parts saved there not usable anymore. That's a good opportunity to make some order and do some cleaning. Every time I reboot the T24, the notification "do you want to delete XYZ?" appears and asks for an Ok, I give "OK", then another appears, etc, etc, etc may be twenty times :-( ... I've read another 6-year-old thread where reasons were explained, but I found it quite intrusive to insert that ... and stupid not being present in the "notification options setting". No solution appeared so far in that thread, and a search on the forum did not give me interesting results. ANY HELP to block those things? (It never appeared on my old device, it's still not appearing on the W11 laptop ) 6 years .. What does that mean?
I don't understand much about Dropbox, and it is virtually impossible to get answers, but....Does Dropbox sometimes remove files from your folder without your request or permission? Just now, I received the following message: 1 day until expiration for Annette Hanshaw's RECORDINGS (1926-1934). Does that mean that Dropbox is going to remove a folder that I have put there? Why? What can I do? (4/27/25;8:41 AM PST)318Views0likes9CommentsI got an email saying I deleted many files, but I don't think I did such a thing.
I keep getting emails that say things like: "You recently deleted 69368 files from your Dropbox account. If you want these files back, you can still restore them until 7/10/2025. After that, they’ll be permanently deleted." I don't think I've been deleting files, so I don't know what this is about. Also, when I looked in Dropbox under the "Deleted Files" tab, nothing is in there. Please help, as I don't want my files to disappear.Solved439Views0likes3CommentsI can't use Shift + delete for my folders due to new "delete for everyone" pop-up message.
I am unable to shift+delete any folder inside my dropbox folder so I can skip the recycling bin. This seems to be connected to this new popup about asking if I'm sure I want to delete for everyone. Which is very strange, because this is NOT in a folder I've shared with anyone else. Any ideas on how to fix this? Or how I can report this to Dropbox directly?Solved575Views0likes16CommentsHow can I permanently disable the "delete for everyone" prompt?
How can I permanently disable this "delete for everyone" prompt? I have to delete old files daily for work, and this message is a major hindrance. It doesn't happen if I take the time to sync the file to my hard drive, but that is a ridiculous workaround when I'm trying to completely delete a file. This needs a "don't remind me again" option. Am I missing some way to turn this off?Is there a way to change whom alerts go to in regards to things like adding and deleting accounts?
Hello, Is there a way to change whom alerts go to in regards to things like adding and deleting accounts? Ideally we should have control that we can have certain types of alerts reach only certain folks depending on their job role in the organization. For instance, currently our executive team from all departments receives notifications of folks being on-boarded and/or off-boarded. This leads to questions at times that are best handled by a certain role in the organization rather than a team email blast. Thanks584Views0likes3Comments
