Recovering Deleted Files from over a year ago

A friend of mine had logged into my account, took my stuff to another flashdrive and deleted my files from my account without my knowing, recently I tried to get the stuff back from Garry's Mod since a lot of those files I cannot get back again, and my friend lost the flashdrive, is there anyway at all I can get those files back?

If they were deleted outside of your recovery period (30 days for Basic, Plus and Family accounts, 180 days for Professional and Business) then there's no way to recover them.

    Hi Chris1825282

I'm afraid you cannot - there is no way to recover deleted files after the recovery window expires (i.e. 30 days for free or 180 days for paid). Upgrades are also not retroactive.

I got most of my Dropbox files deleted sometime in 2020. Is it possible to recover them? I would be grateful for any assistance.

Hey Mukunda, thanks for joining the Dropbox Community.

Unfortunately, files that are deleted outside each account's restoration window cannot be recovered.

Depending on your Dropbox plan, you can restore files deleted up to a year ago, however, this doesn't work retroactively, so even if you upgraded, you wouldn't be able to restore them, I'm afraid.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for this message! I wonder what could be the region behind the files being lost!

    Not a problem, Mukunda!

There are lots of reasons why your files got deleted.

Here's a post by my colleague Jay, that lists all the possible reasons for file loss, for more info.

I moved all my pictures from Dropbox to OneDrive - or so I thought. Apparently only the icons are in my OneDrive and thousand of pictures from the last 20 years or so are missing. I have deleted them within the last 12 month. Any way they can be restored?

Hey Mario67, thanks for joining our Community.

I'm afraid that if your files were deleted about a year ago, they can no longer be retrieved through Dropbox.

The restoration window for individual accounts is up to 180 days, depending on your plan. For free accounts it's 30 days.

Sorry that I couldn't be more helpful with this.
