Multiple selective sync conflict folders after a hard drive repair
Device
iMac Retina 5k, 27 inch, 2019
Operating System/Browser (if using the web)
Sonoma 14.7.6
Dropbox App Version (if using the app)
v229.4.5197
Question or Issue
We are experiencing selective sync conflicts after a team member reinstalled Dropbox following a hard drive repair. This has resulted in many duplicate folders with "selective sync conflict" in their names, causing Dropbox storage to fill up unexpectedly. Our Dropbox is now completely full. Does anyone know how to get rid of all the selective sync folders? And how to prevent this from happening in the future? Is there a way to create a list of all folders/files that were created/duplicated? This seems like something that could take hours to go thru folder by folder to get us back to what we had before. Hoping there is a faster solution.
Thanks.

Hi there, emilyk_SAS, thanks for joining the Dropbox Community.
Basically, a selective sync conflict happens when someone removes a folder from their Dropbox folder with selective sync and then creates another folder with the same name in the same location the original folder was in.
You can read more about this in this article from our Help Center.
Unfortunately, there's no automatic way to fix these, they will have to be mended manually. Just make sure to check the contents of the folders before deleting them, to avoid losing files.
Let me know if you need help with anything else or if you have more questions.

Thank you for getting back to me Hannah.
We did not create any new folders. We uninstalled and reinstalled the dropbox app after the computer told us the dropbox app was corrupt. What is the proper way to do this so it doesnt automatically duplicate folders? Why did it create duplicate folders on its own? - Hannah5 months ago

Not a problem, Emily!
Hmm, did you actually use selective sync to unsync the particular folders before?
And after reinstalling the Dropbox app, did you choose to sync all your folders to the Dropbox folder, including the ones that were previously unsynced?
