Signed up from email saying I was over the limit, but no files are there.

How did you upgrade?
Via link in email from an account I haven't used in years. The email mentions I'm over my limit so I signed up to the basic account to browse and pull down files locally
Question or Issue
I haven't used my Dropbox account in a few years. I originally got an account with possibly an old Samsung phone. Over the years since, I haven't used it and periodically got emails saying I was over my limit.
Recently a close friend passed and I'm looking to go through the backed up photos, so from the email clicked 'sign up', expecting to see my files so I could go through them a save locally until I was within my limit.
After signing up again though, there is nothing in my account. Is there anyway to see the files the emails have been refering to?
I don't recall, and can't find, any email saying the files were deleted/removed and figured if I was still getting emails saying I was 400% over my limit the files were there.
Thank you

How long ago did you last log on? If it was over 12 months ago Dropbox wipes accounts for inactivity. No idea why you are still getting over account limit emails though.
Are you sure you signed in to the right account? What is http://www.dropbox.com/events showing?

Thank you Mark and Megan for getting back to me. I last logged in at least 2/3 years ago.
The events log is showing 2 items, that I added the app and also the community app to my account. Nothing else before that.
I'm guessing it's the same account, as it's the same email address used for it that I'm receiving the emails to, though even since 'updating' my account, I'm still getting emails to say I'm 400% over my limit. Could it be set up under a different email address with the emails being sent to another email account?

Possibly - especially if you use GMail.
Make sure you check the email that its coming to carefully. Remember Google allows you to use punctuation and Googlemail.com and Gmail.com interchangeable.
So Mark.Mc@ , Mark-Mc@ and MarkMc@ would be one email there, but, three accounts here. Same with the different domain names.
