Hello everyone,
Our engineer's have looked into this and have provided a solution that should assist. If you follow the steps below, this should ensure that your folders are restored to the default for your PC. If you have any other issues, feel free to create a new thread and we will follow up with you shortly.
1) Make sure the Dropbox desktop application is running (re-download if you have already deleted the application)
2) Click on the Dropbox icon in the system tray and then click your profile picture or initials
3) Select âPreferencesâ
4) Click on the âAccountâ tab, and then click in the window under the tab (just anywhere will do)
5) Hold down the âalt+Hâ keys
6) select the option to âreset OS foldersâ

Yes, however, I can tell you I have made some progress. Went into the Registry and found all the 'path' re-directs and reset them back to their original state.
However, that being said, I tried re-installing and re-uninstalling the product. This, however, did not clean up the Registry entries that are still leftover. Furthermore, there is still a folder called 'Dropbox' which is not only mirroring my data folders, but deleting anything from within the 'Dropbox' folder still results in a corresponding deletion from whatever User folder it is mirroring. I need to know how to stop this, and kill the 'Dropbox' folder, and its mirroring altogether. My email is [personal information removed as per Community Guidelines]. Look forward to hearing from you.

I had a very similar experience, the uninstall of Dropbox did not clean up after itself properly and have those linked folders leftover like the original poster. Please update with your process to resolve this.

Hey there jgroth, thanks for joining the discussion here and sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
Can you please try reinstalling the desktop app on your computer and then follow these steps to disable the computer backup feature?- dreaminguser12345 years agoExplorer | Level 3

hi Drop Box
I have the same problem. This is very annoying. It has never happened to me until my current laptop.

Hey Stephen T.8, thanks for commenting!
Did you correctly disable the backup feature? You can check the steps to disable it here.
If you uninstalled Dropbox before disabling computer backup, you'll need to reinstall it and then disable the feature.

I am also having trouble redirecting the reparse point. When I try it says unable to redirect, please choose different target path. I have redownloaded the dropbox app but am unable to sign in since it was through a company account and they changed the password when I departed the company. Now my connections to personal folders, like downloads won't work. Can I get some assistance?

Hi rudinskyla, could you attach a screenshot showing the error message you're getting on your device?
