- RBoy8 years agoHelpful | Level 5The grey color icon for Dropbox doesn’t work. It doesn’t recognize when safari opens a PDF file instead it gives an error.
- Modoc698 years agoExplorer | Level 3I see. Then, try the other one (in color) ed deactivate the one in grey. I had the same issue and I solved in deactivating one of the two. It might work the opposite for me

How is this issue solved? The marked solution is just a workaround using another browser...
- connorhawke7 years agoCollaborator | Level 8Issue still here after all this time. Thorough description and examples: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Files-folders/Save-to-DropBox-can-t-upload-certain-files-that-work-fine/m-p/349768#M53064

I've given up on Dropbox for various reasons and moved on . Google Drive it is..
- connorhawke7 years agoCollaborator | Level 8Thing is Google Drive has its own, different bugs and issues. Lost count of the number of reports I’ve made to Google regarding Drive and their other apps.

I just tried to save to Dropbox from my iPad and I received the same error. I discovered this thread when investigating the error, I’m amazed that it seems to have been an issue for about 2 years. So clearly not resolved as the thread would have me believe.

I am still experiencing this issue. The workaround shown above (that is marked Solved) does not work for me.
- KBooz6 years agoNew member | Level 2This drove me crazy too. I updated the Dropbox app, signed out of Dbx, turned off my phone for a minute, turned it back on, signed into dbx and it worked. Hope this helps someone else:)
- Jumme5 years agoNew member | Level 2I believe this is a matter of root permissions! At least it was for me.
iPhone 11 Pro, IOS 14.2, Safari browser
What DIDNT work:
• clear browser cache
• reset DNS
• turn off add blocker
• Hard reboot phone
• turn off/on phone
• log out/in Dropbox
• reinstall Dropbox
What DID work:
• try another random PDF file from online - OR -
• Save PDF file to Adobe Reader, then from there(!) save to Dropbox
Note: I realised the files I could not save was all “personalised files” (EU Corona passport with personal ID), (list of my current insurances as online pdf file from my insurance company).
At least mine had a temporary address in the address bar named
“ https://c9-root-proxy-s3binaries-11xyqgskelu1c.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/“(...something).pdf”.
That led me to believe this error is related to temporary permissions.
Hope this info will help someone else!!
