- 9 years agoLet me send over some more details and tips to determine the cause!
- For starters, you may have a look here for some steps to adjust your bandwidth locally.
- Secondly, you could try force quitting all other applications and see if this helps improving your syncing speed.
- Also, let me ask you whether you’re in a work or home environment.
- You could use the link below to check your connection speed through your ISP and local network by using the following link: http://www.speedtest.net/
I’ll be following-up here, so please keep me updated in your reply!

Hi Ed,
I just spent over a week trying to upload about 130GB on two computers, probably about 12 hours per day each. I'm sitting here looking at a sync that says it has 1.2 HOURS remaining. This is a Pro account. Pro means professional in that I and others are using this for business. I'll be switching to something else soon.
Here are a couple of things that you posted here:
- I spoke to some team members and since these are quite complex issues as it involves a lot of variables,
- Can you try uploading your files through the desktop client instead of the website?
Please, we are professionals here. Don't insult us.

I am syncing a backup of 400 gigabytes.
My connection is 50mbps upload speed. I get this or darn near close to it when speed testing the line over and over.
I noticed that dropbox stopped giving me an ETA and so I restarted the dropbox and after it indexed it would have a speed of around 700 kbps, and 2 days left to sync.
Then i notice 50 kbps and 41 days to sync.
I have been using a pro account since the samsung promotion I was on ended, but why am I even doing this with dropbox? I have a pretty decent tech background, so I knew to ensure my firewall was open and that there was nothing in the settings of the app to throttle itself before even researching it.
Now all I can see is that it will take as long as it darn well pleases I guess, which is a shame because I have to wonder if this is the same with all other services.
Surely this has to have a solution, but i cannot find it anywhere.
it literally was at 20k and 95 days remaining at one point.
NOT ACCEPTABLE.
