Ended up with two copies of my photos when I backed up iPhoto
I found that backup iPhoto to dropbox is a nightmare, iPhoto ended up with 2 copies of the same photos which double my storage space in my iPhone, it is so confusing that I stopped using dropbox years ago. Did I make any mistake? Anybody can help?

Welcome to our Community, ewwwsmile!
Can you please clarify if you're referring to backing up your photos on your computer through our computer backup feature or the automatic upload of the photos directly from your phone?
The photos you add to your Dropbox wouldn't affect your phone's storage space.
If you can describe the steps you followed last time, I can give you more info as to what might have happened.
Thanks.

I don't remember exactly what I did as I have given up the support of dropbox several years ago. I vaguely remember that there was a button of dropbox in my finder window of desk top. Then after I choose to back up in dropbox, I found there were 2 copies of same photo in my library. Can you teach me how to back up photos to dropbox without duplication of photos in my library? Thanks a million.

Hey ewwwsmile, thanks for getting back to me.
I'd suggest, if your photos are also currently saved to the Photos app on your phone, to use the camera uploads feature, which automatically backs up your photos to Dropbox.
That wouldn't create any duplicate files and once the photos are uploaded to Dropbox, if you delete them from the photos app, they'll still remain in your Dropbox.

What about the other way around? Let's say I delete the duplicate on Dropbox.. Will this cause the iPhone to back it up again? I'd like to sort my camera uploads folder but am worried that the iPhone might think the moved file needs to be backed up again.

HI pmath3, once a photo is uploaded automatically via the camera upload feature, it won't be uploaded again, even if you delete the file.
