Error when trying to share a folder with a specific email address
I have a dropbox shared folder set up and shared with a couple email addresses. I tried to share this to another email address and it keeps coming back with the error message: One or more names or email addresses you entered are invalid.
This email address does exist and I can send/receive emails with no issues. I tried removing the other user in case there was a share limit, same error. Tried creating a new shared folder, same error.
Hey kNuTz, thanks for letting us know about this.
Are you sharing this folder with edit permissions with these users?
Is it possible that the email address in question is not associated with a Dropbox account?
Keep me posted.

Hey Hannah thanks for getting back to me. Yes it ended up being the individual didn't set up a Dropbox account in order for the share to work! I did think there was a prompt when sharing to invite the recipient to Dropbox, all sorted now though thank you.

Hi kNuTz! I am so glad that you got your folder shared and it all got sorted on your receivers end. I'm Theresa, one of the Community managers here at Dropbox and I'd love to hear how you're using Dropbox if you're up for sharing 😊 I'm always so curious about how people use Dropbox daily - you never know what cool tips might be worth passing along to you or our team! 💫

Hi Theresa,
I always share dropbox folder even if the email has no DB account yet since a link for registration will be sent to their email. However , I still don't know how to fix this issue as kNutz's solution does not fix mine.
Please help.
Thanks

Hey ellapot - sorry to jump in here, but may I ask if you manually input the email address or if you're copying and pasting it from somewhere?

Hi, Thank you for the quick response. I tried both and got the same response from the DB. (Not all emails) . Just the one from my comment only.
I also tried checking if the email is active and it is active..

Hi again, ellapot!
Are you getting this error only with email addresses that are not associated with Dropbox accounts or is it random?

The owner of the email said
"I think is on my end... I might have to sign up again because it says the account doesn't exists."
....
But, most of the time that I share files to email addresses that has no DB account yet, I can share.

As a test, would you mind trying another email address that isn't linked to an active Dropbox account, to see if you get the same results ellapot?
