Getting Dropbox to work off a new laptop. Red X icons.
I recently bought a new laptop. I migrated, at least I thought, my files from my old PC to my new HP laptop (Windows 11). The problem is I see folders on my new laptop with a red X beside them. Other folders are fine with a green check. What happened? Also how do I get Dropbox to start synching off my new HP laptop?

Hi there, canuck1, I'd be happy to look into this for you!
Let's start with a few basics, such as the app's version that you're using along with its syncing status.
Can you check, and let me know more? If you also have any screenshots of the red X icons, that'd be amazing.
Lastly, would you mind sharing with me how you migrated the files from the old PC to the new one?
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

Here is a screen shot of my PC with the red x folders. I migrated files using a prompt when setting up my laptop. I also added some folders (documents, pictures and music) using a USB stick to copy from old laptop to the new one. I'm new to Windows 11, so it's different in some and bad ways.

Sorry for jumping in, canuck1.
Can you also check what’s the app version of your Dropbox app? There should be a small Dropbox icon showing in your system tray, at the bottom of your screen, and if you hover over it, you should be able to see it there.
Also, if you click on the same Dropbox icon, what’s the syncing status that you see? Are there any specific errors, if you go to the app’s Sync History tab?

The Dropbox version is 187.4.5691. There are no errors in the sync history tab. As you can see from the screenshot there are red xs (errors) on certain folders on my desktop.

Hi canuck1, if you try to quit the app, I'm assuming you can no longer see the red x icons?
Could you also hover your mouse over your little Dropbox icon, the one next to your WiFi, and let me know what the status of the app states?
