Having trouble syncing Dropbox on Windows device
I tried to install, and it *seems* to be installing but is incredibly slow. However, I'm really not sure what it's doing. I was forced to move my dropbox installation to a windows computer recently and I was expecting an icon on the taskbar (the bar at the bottom) like the one on the menu bar on the top on a Mac. Every time I go to the start menu and click on dropbox, it spins the cursor with an arrow and circle and then nothing. If I got to the windows explore, I can see *some* files but not all.
More worrying to me is that some of the folders show a green icon , which makes me think the files should be available, but they are empty. All the other folders show the blue symbol, despite me selecting "offline available".
How do I check what folders it thinks should be online and offline and how do I get a progress indicator?
thx

Thanks for posting here, davidsi!
Just to clarify, do you always see a small Dropbox icon in your system tray, or does it disappear from time to time?
If you can see it, can you hover over it and send me the syncing status and app version of the Dropbox app that you see at the moment?
If you’re seeing the blue symbol next to your files, it means that they’re still trying to sync. You can also see a full list of all syncing icons for Windows here.
Finally, can you let me know how many files you’ve stored approximately on your Dropbox account? Is it possible they’re more than 300k?
Keep me posted for more info.

I never see it.
There are a lot of files for sure. However, it's now been 24 hours

Hey davidsi - sorry to jump in here, but I wanted to mention that if you don't see the Dropbox icon in your system tray it means that it's not running or that it's hidden.
Could that be the case?
If you could send us a screenshot, we might be able to have a better look into this so feel free to include one in your next response.
Thanks a bunch, David.

I'm not sure what you want me to take a picture of? The bar at the bottom with no icon?

Hi davidsi, a screenshot of your screen usually helps us further, hence why my colleague asked that question.
Are you able to find the icon in the system tray near the clock? It might be hidden behind an arrow.

There is no icon, ever. It's been over a week and some files are updated, but not that many

Hi davidsi, can you clarify which of the two icons you have trouble locating?
or
Also, it might sound trivial, but have you tried uninstalling, then re-installing the app and rebooting your device too?

It's still "installing" after a week, I'm not really enthused about starting all over again. This was a brand new windows install, I'm not sure what reinstalling the app would do for me

and I still do not know how I'm supposed to selectively sync folders, the dropbox icon never appears near the clock on the bottom right. Going to try rebooting the machine to see if that helps
