how about a force sync/refresh button?
I am looking at my drop box through my browser, everything is there and up to date. I'm also looking at my drop box on my computer, it says everything is there, no syncing icons, just a big bag of green ticks. but one does not equal the other. whats on my computer isn't whats in my drop box. I am missing folders and files.
there needs to be a refresh button or right click option to force a refresh of folder contents on your computer.
After much mucking around I paused the sync (even though it said there was nothing to sync) restarted the sync and bingo they appeared. no downloading, just there as if they'd been there all along.
This also happens when I save a image or file into the drop box folder on my computer, if I then go find that image/file in an application such as indesign or photoshop its not there, as in it won't appear in the window dialog. But if I go to the finder and look for it, its there.
Syncing like that is really slow or is non existent.
So freaking frustrating.

Having the same syncing issue and for whatever reason, I need to force a sync since my files are showing up everywhere but on my PC. I know if I reboot, things will be fine. I just don't want to reboot at the moment. I vote for a force-sync button too. It would help when odd things occur. Sure it may not be DB's fault, but the button would be a great help!

Similar problem. I have a 5MB VeraCrypt encrypted folder I use to store a few Excel & Word files. VeraCrypt creates a 5MB file on my dropbox. I have a Windows 10 laptop and a 5k iMac that use the same account for access. The file size of the encrypted folder will never change, same for the date. So not sure if that is why DB isn't doing any syncs for me. I've tried pausing sync & then letting it run again multiple times. Never syncs. Only way it works for me is if I move the file off DB and then put it back. Kinda defeats the purpose though... So a "manual sync" would definitely help me out too...

One more vote for the Force Sync feature. Still waiting (>1 hr.) for a file to sync from dropbox.com to my system. Pause and Resume Syncing has no effect.
Also a vote for a bit more civility in the forum.

The likes of Dave C are why IT Support has such an appalling name in the wider world. In the words of HAL 9000 "You don't want to do that Dave..."
Not only do I pause and restart the app to force syncing, I've had to resort to also moving and moving back files to force a sync.
"Hello Dave. Wouldn't a re-sync button be easier"

Thanks, Hal. I discovered accidentally that the only way I can (almost) guarantee sync-ing is by renaming a file in dropbox.com. Works _most_ of the time.

vote for resync button!
All computers have a last sync 1 minute ago.. but still waiting when file is synchronised an hour ago.. and its a file around 10kb in file size.
quit box, restart box did the trick for me... but thats not how it supposed to work..

I am just astonished that an application the sole purpose of which is to synchronize files between systems does not dependably synchronize files between systems! It's failing in its most basic task. What's worse -- the app thinks it has succeeded. But what's worst of all is that there is no way to force Dropbox to actually do the sync. Pause-restart syncing -- no. Stop-restart app -- no. Rename file on server -- no.*
How can the Dropbox developers ignore such a critical failure in their app? This has been an outstanding issue for at least a year and apparently has not gotten the attention of the Dropbox folks. I don't get it. This is the kind of issue that obliges users to look elsewhere for solutions. I would think a software company would pay attention to something like this.
* I just tried creating a dummy file in the Dropbox folder on my system and suddenly I'm synced with the server. That's only one data point, but perhaps that's a workaround.

I will add my voice to the chorus of folks who would like a force sync option with a right click or a button. It doesn't seem unreasonable to add this functionality. I sincerely hope that Dave C. does not work for Dropbox!! Being snarky with folks is unprofessional and pushes people away from the service for which many of us are paying. Just add the option already!

I have the same issue, along with a conflict issue. I use DP with Spreadsheets with complicated furmulas and Macros between Several PC and Phones a (XP, Win 7, Win 8, as well as GalaxyS4s). Win 8 always sends conflicted files when it decides to sync. Every Device syncs fine except Win 8. Macros and some formulas wont function with the phones but I correct this using the old dinasour XP (usinga macro to auto format). This macro issue may not be intirely a DP issue as it occures with G Drive and One Drive as well. This is primarily a phone issue I have not found an app that can handle macros. If someone knows of any please for heavens sake let me know. But regarding the syncing DP needs a forced Sync button, I only have issues with, Win 8 with conflits (I dont use it much so a little research and experimentation will probably solve this. Dave C people post in an effort to resolve issues they are allready frustrated you only added insult to injury. We are all glad you dont have issues with DP, I ca see why Allen C questioned your demeanor, perhaps a little compassion might go a bit further out here???

On my iMac I first tried exiting the Dropbox program. When that didn't work, I solved the problem by rebooting.
